San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz on Monday continued to criticize the Trump administrations relief efforts in Puerto Rico while she praised the Clinton Foundation.
During an appearance on MSNBC, Cruz discussed the islands widespread power outages and called for a transition to renewable energy sources. She praised the Clinton Foundation for providing the island with solar panels, saying the organization has formed an "alliance" with Puerto Rico that has helped bring power back to the island.
"We're still in a life-and-death situation," Cruz said. "And we need to get our power back, get it restored, but we need to also get the alliances in place, like the Clinton Foundation that is energizing part of San Juan, a farmers market, with solar panels and solar energy. We need to set that foundation for moving forward."
Her assessment of nonprofit established by former President Bill Clinton diverged sharply with her judgment of the federal government. She said the Trump administration has not met the same standards as the Clinton Foundation and other organizations.
"The heart of the American people has been there. Unfortunately, the Trump administration has not been up to par," she said. "They have not been doing the job with the respect and dignity that we deserve, and that contrasts starkly with the heart of the American people."
The Clinton Foundation itself has faced criticism for actions related to the Caribbean island of Haiti. Specifically, the foundation came under scrutiny for awarding donors with contracts in the rebuilding efforts following Haitis 2010 earthquake. Hillary Clinton and her presidential campaign, however, denied allegations of favoritism.
Cruz also praised various organizations for their help, including the charity Operation Blessing and the AFL-CIO union.
"The AFL-CIO took 320 union workers from different unions in the United Statesdoctors, medics, people that went to Puerto Rico, out of San Juanfor two weeks. We hosted them in our municipality and were able to touch 34 communities outside of the San Juan area."
Cruz has been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump since the early days of the Puerto Rican relief efforts. Trump, in turn, questioned her leadership, and the two have disagreed publicly about how relief efforts are to proceed.
Respect and dignity.
Subjective. Not valid metrics for measuring success.
I hope this “alliance” (”deal with the devil” is more like it) works out for you, lady. Good luck with those strings.
Stupid biach, just trying to act relevant. FAIL!
The whore of her people.
I heard of gimme dat tribes but this is an entire gimme dat COUNTRY. If they would hurry and all run to one side maybe it would tip over!!!!!
Let’s see....the Clinton Foundation puts solar panels on ONE farmer’s market, while Trump and the fedgov is working to restore the entire island’s electricity and much other infrastructure. This ain’t just “apples and oranges”, it is comparing a mustard seed to a watermelon.
You know you’re not important when the Free Beacon is the only news source that is reporting this after running a Google news search. Next..
She’s a proven shill for the democrats!
FEMA administrator Brock Long defended a series of tweets from President Trump blasting San Juans mayor for criticizing the relief efforts following Hurricane Maria.
In an interview on CNN, Long suggested that Carmen Yulin Cruz, the mayor of Puerto Ricos capital city, has failed to connect with FEMA command center set up on the island to help with the relief effort.
The problem that we have with the mayor unfortunately is that unity of command is ultimately whats needed to be successful in this response, Long told CNNs Fredricka Whitfield.
BTW if I hear or read 1 more time that Chef Jose Andres is preparing meals in Puerto Rico I think I’m going to blow a gasket. Why is this so important & newsworthy? He’s making meals ok we get it.
Shes a Communist. They have to lie, even to themself, to even make Communism work in theory.
She likes being on the plantation. She likes working for Massa.
Just yesterday i saw a news release showing the USG had installed 704 generators already. Sheesh!
SMDH....
Good grief. ...
Before this she had been in hiding since she was rejected by Congress. Now she’s come out again after weeks of being muzzled to silence. Now that she started talking again, only 1 news source in Washington bothered to report on it.
By the way, people.....did Nancy Pelosi weigh in on this latest sex-obsessed Congressman yet?
This guy Greene makes Conyers look impotent.
Oops....wrong thread.
The mayor is on the Clinton payroll
