Keep your fracking sand out of our port (Commies block a port to stop fracking)
Socialist Workers ^ | 11/27/2017 | Brian Huseby

Posted on 11/27/2017 10:51:14 AM PST by Titus-Maximus

SUPPORTERS OF Olympia Stand, a climate justice coalition in Olympia, Washington, has constructed an encampment blocking the railroad tracks to the Port of Olympia--under a banner reading "No Fracking Sand in Our Port."

The purpose of the blockade is to prevent fracking sands, known as ceramic proppants, from being shipped from the port to the Bakken oil fields in North Dakota and other places.

Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is the process of extracting oil and natural gas from source rock, primarily shale. This is done by pumping a mixture of fracking sands, and large amounts of water and chemicals into the veins of the source rock to open them and extract the oil and natural gas.

Each time a well is fracked, between 2 million and 8 million gallons of fresh water is used. Fracking fluid goes through the aquifers, contaminating drinking water with chemicals, many of which are cancerous. Fracking can lead to local drinking water becoming undrinkable and even flammable. Recent research has found further evidence that fracking is causing earthquakes.

The only good commie.....

The organ of the fifth column screeches about fracking, meanwhile lower gas and oil prices have helped poor people throughout the world. Less costly natural gas has led to much better lives, through warming homes, food production, fertilizers, medicines and lessened the expense of so many other materials necessary for people to live.

Communists never produce anything except trouble.

Wow ... they held off until the fourth paragraph, but when they started lying they sure made up for lost time.

The quakes aren’t caused by fracking itself, but apparently by the practice of injecting the wastewater into well in the ground. The water pressure can trigger movement of fault lines.

A similar phonomenon happens behind the Hoover Dam, in which the immense weight of Lake Mead puts pressure on the rock below, causing numerous small quakes.

And the whole point of “fracking” is that the rock formation being “fracked” is that it’s normally impervious to fluid flow.

And the entire length of the well is lined with heavy steel pipe, preventing the fracking fluid from any contact with groundwater.

Olympia - an uber libtard stronghold wracked with the guilt of white privilege and about 30 miles from me - also the home of Evergreen State College which has been ruined by loonies and sports a memorial to Rachel Corrie, aka St. Pancake.

Well their article is filled with bullsh!t claims that have already been proven false, and I think their blocking a railway is interference with interstate commerce.
That’s illegal under federal law.

I was in Seattle over Thanksgiving. Watched their outgoing mayor bragging about the $30,000,000 that will be squandered in 2018 to “help the homeless”. This includes funding for a “safe shooting gallery” for heroin addicts.

Worked with a guy yesterday who lives in Olympia. Their city goobermint has hired employees to deal with the “human feces problem” downtown.

The left coast of Washington has gone completely over to the dark side. I pity any remaining sane people who live there.
