Food stamp fraud by college students has been going on for a long time. I was in a work study program as a college student in the mid 1970’s. One of my fellow students in the same program was a really snooty sociology major.

She was on food stamps, this was back n the mid 1970’s; she complained all the time that food stamps didn’t pay for liquor and her cigarettes. She had plenty of money for weekly visits to the salon to have her hair and nails professionally done. She also wore expensive designer jeans that cost over $100 per pair. She also owned a nice recent model year car.

She was absolutely disgusting, she clearly didn’t need to be on food stamps. She obviously knew how to game the sydtem.

Need to save money for booze and pot ... the staples of life in college.

I used my old GI Bill and had a job. Except for a couple of “silver spoon babies” everybody in my AFROTC detachment had a job. One of my best friends there delivered pizzas in a beat up Volare station wagon that had a clutch mechanism break. He fashioned a rope that led to the clutch lever on the tranny to shift.

We all made do and made it without food stamps and free stuff from the Government.

How about them getting a job, no more tats, no more going out to drink, no more latte’s if they are in state schools.

It is called life, and these people had better wake up, and get in the real world.

My son right now works 35 hours, in the Marines as a reserve till he finishes his degree, and then off to officer school, andgoes to school full time.

It is about time these cry babies and liberal hearts understood life is tough at times

Breakfast is usually a smoothie he makes with frozen fruit, from mangos to goji berries. For lunch, Vasquez preps a jar of oatmeal, raspberries, chia seeds, flaxseeds, chocolate chips and coconut shavings, plus a spinach salad, and carries them around to eat as needed. Dinner is usually pasta with vegetables.

For being starving and on a limited budget/food stamps, he sure is eating some fancy stuff! Oatmeal and pasta/basic veggies are the only somewhat cheap things he has there...

I had a frat brother who did that. Made me promise not to tell anyone because the frat is full of “snobs”. His family was poor and his student loan ballooned to 30K. To solve that, he delivered pizzas on the weekends but Tuesdays and Thursdays, he was umm, Chippendales for Ladies Night at a club 4 cities out so he wouldn’t be seen. Good looking dude and he’s now a financial analyst for a bank.

Yeah, get a job in a restaurant or pub. The hidden perk, you typically get some free food.

These kids have zero work ethic. My SIL has an older kid from another guy and we noticed (via FaceTime) he was absent in the festivities yesterday. We asked where he was and they said his "anxiety" prevented him from making the 2.5 drive for dinner. It also prevents him from holding a job and other things.

When the call ended, I said to my husband, I didn't have time to analyze my "anxiety" when I was that age. If I didn't work, I didn't eat or have a place to live.

My neighbors kid, finished up and ASU 3 years ago and hasn't left the house since. Literally, the kid is in there ALL the time. No job. He's pushing 25. I just drove up and he and two of his buddies were out in the front talking. 25. 25 fricking years old and arranging "play dates" at your parents house. Can you even imagine?

Yeah, come on over to my parents and play video games. And they (25 years old) DO IT.

WTF???? By 25, I had lived on my own for 7 solid years. I can't imagine hanging out at someone's mom and dads house at that age.

And sometimes it’s by choice. My son chose to have the freedom of more $ in his hand but less security with the meal plan. So I’m sure he scrapes by with Taco Bell and ramen when he could have had less cash but a food plan where he could have unlimited food in the commons that he would have to go to for every meal.

One of my most favorite memories in college (in France) is where my friend and I had so little on one weekend in Amsterdam that we lived off a bag of raw peanuts we found in the back of an old dusty Asian grocery. Raw peanuts are not particularly tasty. But we had a very fun weekend.

And since my stipend came in at the beginning of each month, at the end of the month, lettuce was a meal. I lived.

wow. it truly is stunning to read that about those 25 year old’s.
Actually it is sickening.

25 I had done years in the military ,traveled, seen combat, and engaged to now my wife of 22 years.
These little turds had better wake up, but then again why should they when the Dem party uses their ignorance for their votes.

! If you are paying to go to college you have access to the dining facilities!

No. Meal plans are extra if you don’t pay for dorms.

I bet these idiots made sure their cell phone was working, and their booze, cigarettes, drugs and other entertainment was covered. Cry me a river.

I had some lean times in college (yes, I went to an expensive one). I got off the over-priced food plan, and shopped the sales at Mr. G’s in Hyde Park, Chicago (Mr. G’s was the closest thing to a discount supermarket within walking distance). I used multiple combinations of peanut butter, cheese, tomato sauce, bread, canned tuna, eggs, and cheap luncheon meat to get through the leanest times. Good life experience.

Look at what they do have and use - it will tell you how much money they throw away on pleasure because they know someone will feed them....

No. If you can’t afford the meal plan you need to keep your kid at home and let him be a commuter student. That’s all.
