Her suit against Americas newspaper of record was thrown out in late August by a New York judge who ruled that, in the context of free and robust American political journalism, mistakes will be made. ...Palin accused the newspaper of having published the editorial with the full knowledge that the connection it mentioned was unfounded...IOW, deliberately printing falsehoods is just a "mistake"? So, what is libel, then? Does the judge just wear that robe because he goes to choir practice after court?
Judges are lawyers. Lawyers are mostly all Democrats. Many have emotional problems from the job (documented). High level politicians are mostly lawyers, too.
That’s the salient point- this “judge” ignored the fact that the news media can and SHOULD HAVE known that the story was false, but they ran it anyway.
This is the entire basis for her suit, and he chose to ignore it.
Media are given great liberty against being sued for libel for famous people, and should not abuse it. This was clearly abuse.
Part of the appeal could be based on the judge’s admission that mistakes were made! The judge screwed the times potentially with that remark in an appeals trial.
