Beginning July 22, 2019, about 59,000 Haitians who have been granted relief under the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program will no longer have a reprieve from deportation, a senior administration official told reporters on background.

Once again, Trump betrays his anti-immigration voters.

Trump, via his former Department of Homeland Security chief John Kelly, already gave the 60,000 TPS Haitians a one year reprieve, until January 2018.

Now, Trump gives them another 18 months, until after the 2018 mid-term election!

John Kelly, who was recently promoted to Trump's Chief of Staff, also supports DACA Amnesty.

John Kelly's deputy at DHS, Kirstjen Nielsen, is Trump's nominee to replace John Kelly at DHS.

Kirstjen Nielsen also supports DACA Amnesty.

Mark Krikorian, the founder of the Center For Immigration Studies, wrote the following comments at National Review Online, before the White House decision on Hatian TPS:

“Having drawn this red line, however, if the administration later this month does not announce the termination of TPS for Haitians, its credibility will be shot. And not just on immigration — strength of will, or lack thereof, in one area sends a message to political actors involved in other areas about an administration’s credibility. Reagan’s firing of the air-traffic controllers and Obama’s failure to back up his red-line comment in Syria are illustrative in this regard.

“The period between now and November 22, when the Haiti decision needs to be made, is a time for choosing for this administration — and the choice will have consequences for the rest of President Trump’s time in office.”

I probably should have explained what Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is in Comment #1.

Immigrants who flee a country, or cannot return to their home country, because of a natural disaster or a civil disaster can get “temporary” legal status in the USA.

In fact, no TPS person has ever been deported back to their home country, even though some of them have been here longer than 10 years.

Once they get TPS, they can work, they can get every kind of welfare, they can have anchor babies, but no voting, no passport (I think), and no security clearance.

The U.S. currently provides TPS to over 300,000 foreign nationals.

The three largest countries are El Salvador, Honduras, and Haiti.

Geez, take a valium!

Did it ever dawn on you that far more may be going on than you can see in front of your nose?

Did it ever dawn on you that you are not the sharpest or the only knife in the drawer?

Read Peter Scweitzer’s book for a clue.

Re: “Read Peter Scweitzer’s book for a clue.”

I suggest you read Donald Trump, for a better clue.

Trump promised to end Temporary Protected Status.

If you and I do not hold Donald Trump to his promise, who will?

You need to dig a lot deeper than surface appearances.

Re: “You need to dig a lot deeper than surface appearances.”

No, I don’t.

I’ve been reading American political history books and watching news and information programs for the last sixty years.

Instead, you need to tell me what I am not seeing.

Take that as a challenge, Mazda.

Explain to me why Trump can’t order the Department of Homeland Security to remove Haiti, El Salvador, and Honduras from the TPS list, since the Haiti earthquake, and the Central American hurricane, were like 5-10 years ago.

And explain to me why Trump can’t revoke DACA with his own Executive Order, which is what he promised to do on his first day in office.

You’re digging in the wrong places. Everything is not about how it WAS done. Just set back and be amazed when it all becomes apparent.
