Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas told former White House strategist and Breitbart News mogul Steve Bannon that accusations coming forward about Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore allegedly making sexual advances on teenage girls were part of a hit job designed to take out Bannon.
This morning, Bannon asked Gohmert if he believed the allegations against Moore were a weaponized hit from the Republican establishment. Gohmert said that a discussion with a conservative journalist about how Moore being defeated could hurt Bannons ability to recruit candidates for future elections made him realize the allegations were targeted at Bannon.
This wasnt just to take out Moore, this was to take out Bannon. You bet. Thats what really makes sense, Gohmert said.
Republican establishment, like you were just saying before I came on, they would rather have an establishment Democrat and lose the majority than have somebody like Roy Moore or me or others like Tim Huelskamp that they are not going to be able to control, Gohmert said. It really is sad what we do to our own party.

And Bannon fired back with pictures of Al Franken.
I like Louie. But this is screwy.
Bannon was not at play here. He was not the target.
Moore is/was the target.
Then in a small secondary sense - Trump was next. This all happened to offset and overshadow the single greatest Presidential trip overseas in the history of presidential trips.
And if it weren’t for Kansas, Chicago would be in Oklahoma.
The truth will out!
When will Al Franken resign?
Will Al Franken take a retraining tour in Arizona?
Trump was smart enough to dodge this bullet by not endorsing Roy. Bannon not so much.
I've met her and she is VERY butch.
Kyle Whitmire is an effete "columnist" there (though he's married) and he's written with more vitriol against Judge Moore than anyone, with the possible exception of John "I forgot I declared bankruptcy and I've got a gay brother" Archibald.
They hate Judge Moore and they have made it clear that they do.
Their jobs are also dependent on pleasing their editor. Those 3 papers are owned by Advance and they have laid off over 40% of their employees in the past few years and now only print 3 days a week.
So you have lesbains and leftists calling the shots and maybe a couple of people who are afraid to speak out in fear of losing their jobs.
But this is a hate campaign of the highest order.
The GOPe is more afraid of Bannon than Trump. I believe that.
Establishment Republicans don't view the GOP as their own party; they view it (and use it) as a vehicle to mask from the masses the fact that they belong to a globalist Uniparty. If helping to elect Democrats serves said Uniparty's ends, then that's what they do.
I think Gohmert has it right!
The Establishment, DemocRAT and Republican CANNOT allow anti-establshmentarians to gain power. This is WAR!
and the Franken evidence was out there all along in the public domain...don’t mess with the Wingman!
Trump said if he’s hit, he’ll hit back ten times harder. Bannon seems to have a similar method.
Of course it was against Bannon, and Moore.
“But this is screwy. Bannon was not at play here. He was not the target. Moore is/was the target.”
Bannon had put McConnell on notice that Bannon will be recruiting Senate candidates who are not going to pledge support to McConnell nor pursue McConnell’s failed agenda.
McConnell has desperately been trying to nip that effort in the bud by running his scorched earth smear campaign against Moore as a warning to any other potential candidate that they better not join up forces with Bannon or else they will get the same treatment Moore is getting.
This effort is against Moore to be sure; but it is even more against Bannon to keep him from getting any victories and thereby give Bannon credibility that he just might be able to take on McConnell.
Do you have a problem following the bouncing ball? The big target was Bannon for McConnell because Bannon has just started being Trump’s swamp pump.
Roy Moore wasn’t elected because of Bannon. They have done this to every conservative who wins a primary.
I think you’re missing part of the reality here.
Bannon supports Moore because he is an opening shot at changing things in the Senate.
How better to attack Bannon, than to go after his number one best candidate for change?
I believe this is an attempt to reduce the impact of Bannon.
I hope the good folks in Alabama understand this dynamic, and how vitally important it is to get Moore installed in the U. S. Senate.
So you’re saying that when an R is attacked, and even falsely, or without a shred of actual evidence, all the Rs should clutch their pearls, back off and slam the attacked one?
IOW, the method Rs have been using for decades with such success?
Trump did not endorse Moore for reasons other than these insane accusations which had not even bubbled to the surface at that time! THe reason he endorsed Strange was he knew Moore would win anyway, and he wanted Strange’s votes until Strange is out in January.

FYI: In the AL primary 480,000 Rs voted. 84,000 Ds.
Richard Baris at PPD says the AL split is something like 52-39 (R/D). You can do the math and see how bogus this poll is.
