This was the first chance the democrats had to vote against Trump.
This was the first chance to act on their shock of defeat at the ballot box. Coupled with a simmering anger of GOP voters toward their own party it was not a good combination. Indeed, the GOP got creamed even for dog catcher type elections.
Nothing fixes that like legislative accomplishment.
Right now, sadly, one man and one man alone is to blame for that. Mitch McConnell who cant get the Senate to vote on anything, even to put the democrats on the record for opposing it.
He needs to go.
Dems already lost the runoff Senate election in Lousiana (and I thought there were one or two more) after Trump was elected; at this point people need to see a tangible result of voting for him. Here in NJ we just had a Republican lose to a Democrat for governor, but she wasn’t a Trump supporter (and the state as a whole wasn’t either) - Trump played no role in the race.
