Senate Judiciary Chairman Charles E. Grassley signaled this week he wont adhere to a strict blue-slip policy for judicial nominees, clearing the path for Republicans to install some of President Trumps picks over the objections of home-state Democrats.
Mr. Grassley said the blue-slip tradition was intended to make sure the president consults with senators about judicial picks from their states, but wasnt intended to give those same senators an absolute veto.
A senator cant use a blue slip to block a nominee because its not the person the senator wouldve picked. The president gets to nominate judges, Mr. Grassley said on the chamber floor Monday.

I call BS. I’ll believe it when I see a strict Constructionist going to Cali or Minnesota or New York etc.

Boom!
Did Ditch approve of this change?
This is a tradition that’s the Chairman decides as I understand it.
Apparently the Chairmen “serve” at the whim of Ditch.
Whether Trump passes legislation or not, his selection of federal judges, repeal of Obama’s illegal EOs, and protection of the Constitution alone makes him a major success.
Chairman Grassleys life expectancy just went down. But good on him if he follows through.
Now if we can just get the Turtleman to schedule actual votes. IMHO, the five judicial nominee votes in one week was a ONE-OFF. Where are the five judicial votes for THIS week? Or for NEXT week? Or for the WEEK AFTER NEXT...and the FOLLOWING week?
Turtleman is not scheduling them...hes too busy trying to prevent UNCORRUPTABLE people such as Judge Moore from being elected to the Senate.
Agreed...That 5 in one week has to keep happening, only Mitch controls the votes on the floor.
Lets git er done, folks!
Of course as we all know here the president cannot pass legislation. That is the responsibility of the Congres....right?
DACA, DACA, DACA.
Good, because the judiciary need to be remade, and the blue slips tradition is idiotic.
I nust emailed him. Our people need to hear from us when the take a stand
Excellent! If Trump is right on track with anything, its judicial appointments. Very good to see.
Finally!...If true...
Bump!
That is not Legislation (law) as we know it because as easily as an EO is signed it can be revoked.
Good, finally.
