Hate crimes rose for the second straight year in 2016, with increases in attacks motivated by bias against blacks, Jews, Muslims and LGBT people, according to FBI statistics released Monday.
There were more than 6,100 hate crimes last year, up about 5 percent over the previous year. In 2015 and 2016, that number was driven by crimes against people because of their race or ethnicity.
More than half the 4,229 racially motivated crimes were against black people, while 20 percent were against whites, the report shows. And Jews were targeted in more than half the 1,538 crimes that were motivated by religion. Crimes fueled by bias against LGBT people rose from 203 in 2015 to 234 last year.
The yearly report is the most comprehensive accounting of hate crimes in the U.S. But authorities have long warned it is incomplete, in part because it is based on voluntary reporting by police agencies across the country. [ ]
In releasing the figures, the FBI said hate crimes remain the number one investigative priority of its civil rights unit and pledged to continue collecting data on the problem. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has said it would be a top focus of his Justice Department.

...because the “hate crime” is now defined on the spot by the “victim”... who CANNOT be white... Oh no!!!
What about the stats on hate crimes against Whites and Christians ?
Says that twenty percent of recorded hate crimes were against whites. Does not specify whether liberal or conservative whites, but I’m guessing liberal.
In 2016, for the second straight year.
That’s Obama’s watch.
Regarding “hate crimes”, I wonder if this is because of how we define things. It reminds me of an odd statistic I heard a decade ago. I don’t have the right wording, but here is the spirit of it:
Nobody has died of natural causes since the mid-1950’s.
Sounds ridiculous, but the reason it’s true is that it was in the 1950’s that “natural causes” was no longer allowed on death certificates. They were required to be more specific. Nothing changed except the wording.
I wonder if that sort of thing is going on here.
Hate Crimes = Thought Crimes.
As an American I can hate whoever I want. If I commit an illegal act of violence against those whom I hate, then I should be prosecuted for the crime of violence. The hate is my business.
It should be noted that 1984 was written as a cautionary tale and not an instruction manual for the Left.
This probably includes the vast number of “hate-crime” hoaxes.
And how many of these are fake hate crimes - Crimes perpetrated by the alleged “victims” themselves?
Actual definition of “hate crimes” has spread to include a number of activities and transactions between people and including circumstances that previously had been either ignored by the vast proportion of the populace, or were considered to be of so little significance that the one who protested what was considered to be “ill treatment” was labeled a whiner and malcontent.
Used to be that the whiners and malcontents only succeeded in marginalizing themselves.
Precisely so.
Does this include the plethora of the-crime hoaxes?
Real ones, fake ones, or both?
And most were proven frauds...
No such thing as a real one. Legislating on “hate” means creating “thoughtcrime”.
White on black hate crimes are mostly “hate crimes” like leafleting or pamphleteering, graffiti, petty vandalism, or a microaggression that offends a racist black with a chip on his shoulder.
Black on white hate crimes when they are RARELY recognized by the authorities however, are brutal, horrific, violent crimes like hate rapes, mob beatdowns, home invasions etc.
So in reality, black on white racially motivated, violent hate crimes are epidemic compared to the reverse but PC policing wont allow true statistics to be gathered or published.
What the liberal press is not reporting:
Instead, they report on the last year of Obama. But not while Obama was in office, of course; ten months after he’s gone from the White House.
