Cruz pulls support from Moore: Allegations merit ‘criminal prosecution’ if true

Sen. Ted Cruz on Monday withdrew his support from Alabama GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore, saying allegations of sexual misconduct should be looked at by prosecutors.

“As it stands, I can’t urge the people of Alabama to support a campaign in the face of these charges without serious, persuasive demonstration that the charges are not true,” the Texas Republican told reporters, according to a Texas Tribune reporter.

“Both last week and this week, there are serious charges of criminal conduct that if true, not only make him unfit to serve in the Senate but merit criminal prosecution,” he added.

Rand Paul..Last man standing up for the right to remain innocent until proven guilty.

I am posting here my comments to a poster who responded to a different article. I cannot help but think of the Salem Witch Trials as I watch this play out from what President Trump calls the “Swamp.” Make no mistake. Rand Paul is a rare species in our age. Look no further if you want to know an honest statesman. He is it! I am so thankful he is getting better from the vicious and unexpected physical attack on him.

...”America is teetering on the brink of insanity.
We’ve been reading here in FR, and hearing on Conservative talk radio, for years, that the allegation is all that is needed to ruin or shut down an entity.
It is certainly a marvel the “they” have been successful in making sex, et al, the guiding darkness of our hour.

God’s most beautiful and sacred gift to man, for each other, blasphemed and roiled in the slime and mire.

2 Chronicles 7:14
King James Version

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”...

Yes. I just finished watching Sean Hannity’s show from last night. Now, I have given up all trust in whether good is going to triumph over evil in America. Sean gave a very clear explanation of the efforts now going on against conservatives and conservative thought in this country and says it stems from an outfit, funded lavishly by the very rich, the Clinton’s included. It is Media Matters for America and is run by Angelo Carusone. Sean says if you want to be introduced to him and his goals, you can find them at angelocarusone.com I wept when I heard Judge Jeanine’s assessment of this situation of Roy Moore. I do not know what he did or did not do. I did grow up in that era and, at that time, 16-17 year old girls were marriage age in the view of Southern Culture and many young women, including myself were pursued by older guys. Our parents approved if the guy had proven himself to be a solid citizen with an education and a job. He was especially respected if he had fulfilled a military obligation. I would offer to FreeRepublic readers the example of Elvis Presley who brought his girlfriend back to his home with the blessing of her military parents when she was only 14. He waited until she was a bit older to marry her. That was Southern Culture back then. I hate true pedophilia which is the forced abuse of real children under the age of consent and believe it should be prosecuted under the full extent of the law. I know that Judge Jeanine has vast prosecutorial experience, but I also have professional experience as a medical person with knowledge of personality disorders which come from working with and treating people with those various disorders and I can tell you, where that exists, people and, in my experience, mostly women, will do anything, even to seriously injuring themselves physically to get attention. The larger the scope of attention available, the better. This is why I think it is a travesty to simply ruin someone’s life based on accusations that play to political intrigue. One other thought. In the case of Harvey Weinstein and others, the accusers are mostly well known actresses recognized and trusted by the public. Also, from what we read, much of Hollywood was aware for years of Weinstein use of his power over women to abuse them sexually. In Roy Moore’s case, the fog of political wars are keeping us from seeing and knowing what is really going on. My loss of trust in Judge Jeanine is now up for grabs. Makes me very depressed for there are few public figures left to trust and admire. She was one of mine. I do not know what happened in the case of Roy Moore and I know that no one else does, either. The band wagon effect has taken over. Human nature will never change. I think most of us already knew that. It is just difficult to have to see it played out before our very eyes, knowing well what the outcome will be for our nation and way of life is evil is allowed to win.”

It is now up to five women who have made these claims. The latest one is a Trump supporter (I’ve read articles about neighbors confirming her and her husband are conservative Trump supporters) and is claiming he tried unsuccessfully to rape her.

There is another article out there on the daily beast where they are interviewing people in Entiowac county (sorry if I misspelled it) where he is from. The attitude from many in the story is that they are surprised this did not come out sooner about him constantly flirting with teenage girls. It was well known all over town.

I believe he is probably creepy and has done what these women claim. He’s innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, but the court of public opinion allows me to use my common sense.

...”ANY politician who doesn’t seem to understand “innocent until proven guilty,” but thinks it’s OUR responsibility to “prove” ourselves innocent should not be in office.”...

If this could be enforced, only Rand Paul and President Trump, his administration and about half the Supreme Court would be left in D.C.

Most of the people calling for Moore to withdraw ARE lawyers. And that is scary.

As I consider Cruz to be one of the greatest enemies of our Constitution currently in political office, losing his support is only a positive.

Cruz presents himself as a Constitutionalist and some sort of a preservationist because he is supposedly an expert and can recite the things backwards and inside out.

So then he during his very first term in the Senate he runs for President knowing full well that he is absolutely disqualified by birth. He distorts the text for his own personal edification and millions are OK with that.

People cannot even recognize their own treacherous adversaries simply because they walk among us.

Then use your common sense. Did you know the guy who who said he was surprised it didn’t come out sooner is a lefty? His Facebook page told us so.

You are using hearsay told by people who you know nothing about to sway you.

The neighbors are wrong. This woman’s voting record says it is inactive.

After I said I never supported Cruz, but was proud of him for backing Moore, his true colors finally shown through! Cruz is “which way is the wind blowing” politician! And, not a good one!

It doesn’t look good for Moore with only one senator, Rand Paul, not having withdrawn his endorsement.

Why? Because they might be legally required to seat him, but nothing can prevent them from bringing hom up on immediate ethics charges, and they will.

It will be no problem getting the 67 votes to oust him

I have supported Ted Cruz. I have stood by him when rocks were being tossed at him.
But this morning I just called his DC office ( 202 224 5922 ) and let them know I want them to remove me from every single mailing list, and I no further support him.

America has fallen folks. When we accuse a man BEFORE he is PROVEN guilty.

In my mind, this is being done to derail Trump’s agenda and throw a senate seat to the democrats

It’s really about Trump.

"Then use your common sense."

I am using my common sense. I've seen some of these women interviewed. They are not actresses and if they're lying they are giving oscar winning performances. My common sense also tells me if Judge Moore had a D after his name, the majority of us would have been convinced by the evidence out there that he did this. Face it, he's a creep and don't let your political beliefs sway you.

It is surprising that a conservative could go all these years and not have this stuff come out. I was really suspicious after it all comes out after the primary. However, the totality of the evidence speaks for itself. Call it the Harvey Weinstein effect. I think there are certainly women that take advantage of situations like this and make claims that are simply not true. However, from what I've read and using my common sense about the situation, I believe Judge Moore is creepy and has done this. I believe post Weinstein that regular women are finding courage to come out in the public and realize that people will believe them all these years later.

You want Mo Brooks to steal the seat from Moore.

Watched the one and only time I've had the chance, Laura Ingraham's show, and she was ALL Mo Brooks! Laura might just be part of the GOPe....hope not!

Good question.... How is it that in today’s politics a woman can claim sexual misconduct against a man 40 years ago, without proof, and the burden of proof is placed on a candidate to prove his innocence or be forced to withdraw?

...”Would this not further evidence that the Founding Fathers could have been right not to give women the vote since it appears now all these females keep coming out of the woodwork at election times...with a lot of help from disgruntled women.

A beginning to think it’s all about gender differences and a lot of bitter women ganging up on men to destroy them.....they’ve been at it for awhile.”...

If we had an honest media who could give weight to diverse ideas, this would not happen. If our Constitution had not been ripped up and our judiciary had not been politicized, this would not be happening. If we our educational institutions had honestly taught American History as well as World History, this would not be happening. Had all of our major disciplines including science and medicine been honestly taught and not politicized, this would not be happening. Had philosophy, art, music and psychology and theology not been corrupted, this would not be happening. Had the capitalistic system we have not allowed most of our wealth to fall into only a few hands, this would not be happening. The hands that control the wealth control most politicians and their actions. We have a treasure, in my opinion in Donald Trump, for he is not impressed by those who use money as power, for he truly wants the common man and woman to be able to survive and have a decent life, both morally and physically. Also, Bill Gates, who stands alone, in my view, as a tycoon of technology. He wants to use his wealth not to destroy but to heal diseases which cause terrible suffering for all people, regardless of socio-economic standing. These wealthy entities who are working so hard to stamp out free speech and to take what little is left from the common folks will die just like the rest of us, and the Almighty will decide which disease will take most of us out. I can tell you, as a medical person, your wealth cannot protect you from what is common for all mankind. That is what Bill Gates knows. God bless him. The lack of free speech, the biology of and the politicization of gender issues is so insane, I don’t even know where to start on that. When experts in biology are demeaned concerning these issues, our nation is put into la-la land and that is where we are now. I certainly agree with your post.

I am wondering exactly WHO attacked Rand Paul. Yes, it was his neighbor, but I wonder of said neighbor’s connections. I sure hope Rand has good body guards.

I have absolutely NO trust in McConnell. He is politically dirty.
