An Alabama candidate for the US Senate is strongly denying allegations that he sexually abused a 14-year-old girl.
Roy Moore, a Republican firebrand, said claims that he preyed on a teenager while he was a 32-year-old prosecutor were "completely false".
Leigh Corfman and three other women say Mr Moore made sexual advances on them when they were between the ages of 14 and 18, the Washington Post reports.
The top Senate Republican said Mr Moore must step aside if the claims are true.
Mr Moore, who is now 70, said in a statement to the Post: "These allegations are completely false and are a desperate political attack by the National Democrat Party and the Washington Post on this campaign."
The Christian conservative's team said in another statement about the allegations, "this garbage is the very definition of fake news and intentional defamation".
"Judge Roy Moore has endured the most outlandish attacks on any candidate in the modern political arena, but this story in today's Washington Post alleging sexual impropriety takes the cake," its statement added.

So true. It brings to mind the courtship of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Beaulieu. Priscilla was 14 at the time and Elvis was 24. Everything was open and above board, with Priscilla’s parents giving full permission for the relationship to proceed. They even went so far as to take their young daughter to Germany to visit Elvis when he was in the Army.
It's the same thing we saw in October 2016 with the Access Hollywood tape and Donald Trump. It'll have the same effectiveness too.
It was on a Fox Business Facebook post with a video about Moore. The poster was Caston Misty Smith. It was the first post with over three hundred replies. Smith made several comments about the accuser.
Make them prove it.
And when they can’t, sue them AND the Washington compost into bankruptcy.
They couldn’t get their GOPe candidate to beat him, so they are supporting the Democrat. Jones is losing, so plan B is this trash. Plan C is to get Luther Strange to run as a write-in, split the vote, and then Jones wins (ironically, a plan suggested by Murkowski, who won that way herself...what a worthless, conniving b**ch). These GOPe people are SCUM. Glad they have revealed themselves.
I guarantee that’s the plan. Strange is going to try to use the write-in process to get Jones in.

Thank you! I have a contact who knows Judge Moore’s people very well. I’ll make sure the right people get a look at those posts. She referenced a civil suit around 2007. That should be easy to track down.

That said, I see an opening for major vote fraud here.
You're right. Moore doesn't need me piling on. I might've jumped into the fray a little early on this one now that it is clear that what happened yesterday was a coordinated hit job on Moore following the previous day's news that he had a double-digit lead over Jones in the latest polling.
I hope Moore wins and joins the Senate, primarily for no other reason than he's got the right people howling that he doesn't belong there.
As a Jewess on the US, I can only point out that the number of women who allegedly DATED, but had no sex with, Roy Moore is EXACTLY the same number who accused President Clinton of FORCIBLE RAPE, a FAR more serious offense. Now we know why all REAL Americans put our 2nd Amendment FIRST. Just sayin’!

Yeah, Alabama 40 years ago? Not such an unorthodox thing back them and there. Sometimes the fathers not only approved but pushed the girls in that direction. Especially if they had many girls. They couldn’t work the farm like sons could so they were useless eaters in a way. If they were old enough to breed, they were old enough to go be supported by someone else. Plus, Look at Jerry Lee Lewis + his 12 yo third cousin.
