I’ve had three pit mixes and they were all great dogs, full of fun and love. Very gentle, especially with people. Now, there was one who did not like cats, and simply hated skunks.
How are they supposed to know that an animal is a “killer?”
That’s all they’re obligated to do under the law.
We had two pit mixes -sisters who passed away at 12 & 16- and a current pit mix. Also my sister who volunteered as I did at an animal shelter has 3 pitbulls, the oldest 11 years old now. My son from whom I had my first introduction to pits, reported a fight operation hidden in a middle class neighborhood and per his request was given a 4 week old pitbull by the city cops who raided and cleared the criminal enterprise. He had the puppy 14 years as well as a rescued rottie.
No problems. Just heaps of love, loyalty, sense of humor, courage, and happy times.
Agreed, either by separating them or by training their employees how to handle large, powerful breeds. I have seen way too many vet techs, groomers, and even veterinarians with no clue how to handle large (especially aggressive) breeds. You need to be assertive, confident, and ready to use joint manipulation techniques to immediately immobilize the animal and stop aggression without hurting them or getting injured yourself, or allowing them to injure other people or animals.
I don't like little yapper dogs, I'd prefer to use them as bait when trolling for muskies.........
But they are such cute and affectionate dogs. The cute dog on Little Rascals was a pit bull and that alone tells you they are perfect pets for children. BULL Chit.
Why anyone would ever want one of those monsters or any other similar breed is beyond me. Whatever they suffer in liability claims they deserve.
My policy is shoot on sight on the farm and I’ve done a couple of neighbors the courtesy of letting them know that. They of course spew forth all kinds of threats. Disappeared dead dogs tell no tales. One has a Rottweiler he keeps chained in his yard that got away and was chasing my calves I called him about. He acted like it was my fault for having cows and thought her being out was somehow justified since she had puppies. That is foolish gaul.
The dog on the Little Rascals was pre-90 years’ of breeding for aggressiveness.
Years ago when I frequently traveled for work, I boarded my dog at a very good boarding outfit. He got excellent care, and I thought the expense was worth it. At the end of that period I began to feel the boarding was unfair to him and I found an alternate service. They provided, at my acceptance, someone who came to the house, 3 times a day, gave my dog play times, walks and feedings. They even brought in the mail, took out he garbage, made sure heat or aircon, and light-timers were all in order - and my dog got to stay in his own home.

Pit bulls are pretty obvious in the potentiality of their strength and size, including in the jaw, their breeding, and of course their track records.
If an insurance company doesn’t want to insure a home with one, it’s probably not a great idea to have one — or to take it to the local pet store.
I have not left my dog at the “pet hotel” for some time either. It looked like a cell, and I’m sure that’s what it felt like to him. Our step-granddaughter has stayed at our house and taken care of him for the past few years. She enjoys it and we pay her for it and feel much better knowing he is at home with someone who loves to take care of him. We also feed him raw meat and bones (chicken necks) and do not have to interrupt that when he stays at home.
Agreed, I do not trust PBT types. The only type of dog I purposely avoid.
I have a little terrier mix who thinks he is a Rottweiller. Strangely enough when he barks,he sounds about 50 pounds larger than he really is.
