President Trump blasted GOP gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie in a tweet Tuesday evening in an effort to distance himself from the Republican's losing effort in Virginia.

Trump's tweet knocking Gillespie came shortly after news outlets called the race for Democratic Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam, who looks to be on track for a comfortable victory.

“Never Trumper Gillespie lost for not supporting Trump. Good riddance to this two-time loser.”

Yep. Wisdom tells us there would be some “Battle of the Bulge” moments too. Keep on pushin with the Trump train and “never give up, never surrender!”

yes, they have successfully turned VA into another MD...

Except Maryland has a Republican governor.

I think the GOPe got exactly what it wanted in VA. They’d rather a D win than a Trump populist win. They are prepared to pull the entire congress down and rebuild rather than support economic nationalism. Steve Bannon has this stuff figured out.

Well, actually, I’d rather see the indictments sooner! And the trial, and the convictions, and the firing squad/ electric chair/gas chamber/gallows (but only if she’s legally convicted and sentenced, you Secret Service monitors).
...
President Trump knew this was a lesser of two evils...he put some skin in this...better to have a governor who owes you than simply another democrat socialist snake solely...he took that chance. Trump gave Gillespie credit in advance and had he won, would have tried to hold him to that.

Swamp creature vs socialist. Socialist won.

Virginians will have to suffer as the north and beltway will continue to live in their walled estates sucking wealth from US citizens at our expense.

Trump must stay the course and continue to drain the swamp.

Nailed it. The demrats and their media have convinced republicans to avoid voting for republicans. This is a winning strategy for the rat party— and a pretty simple one too. Lots of republicans are buying it, no questions asked.

Bannon might have it figured out but if his strategery fails we lose it all. I’ll take any GOP over a democrat. Yes, even a RINO.

2018 is around the corner.

Your George Bush strategy is a crock. George Sr. Voted for The Hag. Explain that. Rinos are scum. You commit slow motion suicide by voting for them.

America is in deadly peril. It wasn’t just the Usurper, but all the establishment organizations and Rinos that support his communist ideology.

All you got in this election is conservatives beaten and liberals winning. There is nothing good about that.

Funning how some here think that this is a good thing.

I wouldn’t make too much out of Gillespie’s loss. Northern Virginia is filled with government employees and employees of government contractors, who love big government and the endless expansion of government spending, and endless deficits and monetization of debt. Those people benefit from the endless scam of massive federal programs that cost 25% more than necessary and result in massively excessive taxes on the American people and hidden stealth inflation covered up by fake inflation statistics out of Washington. Of course Northern Virginia votes heavily for Uniparty candidates (democrats and rinos) because those people in the Washington suburbs are running an endless scam against the American people and benefiting directly from that scam.

Virginia is a lost cause for the GOP in Presidential elections. Forget about it and let’s focus on getting tax relief for Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida. Our economy is gaining speed and strength and will gain more strength after a major corporate tax cut later this year. Considering that federal spending is around 23% of US GDP, why should corporations pay a 35% federal tax rate? That’s one of the dumbest things in the history of the world, and it imposes an economic choke point on the US economy right at the point where corporate investment decisions are made. A big cut to a 20% corporate rate is going to unleash a wave of investment and growth in the US economy.

The party can’t dictate who runs. No party can.

Incorrect. The Democrats certainly dictated who ran in 2016 now didn't they?

Maybe so, but I still think it would have been a lot closer had Gillespie embraced Trump more.

Republicans just aren’t going to bother to turn out for Romney-ish candidates, like Gillespie. They generate little enthusiasm.

It’s true. The GOP has one path to success — get on the Trump train!
>

Sorry, if I wanted to be a lemming, I’d be a (D) voter. Amazing to think there are those around here believe a king, excuse me, a President (THEY support) trumps (excuse the pun) our foundation\Republic.

The ONLY path they should be following consists of: Constitution and rule of law (can’t have one w/o the other).

Trump has his paths\ideas\wants, some good, some WRONG. When he IS wrong, I would hope, not only the People to remind him so, but the Courts and Congress; round-robbin.

The establishment doesn’t understand why it loses. McCain, Romney, Gillespie..they are pale color politicians, “moderates.” They are Democrat lite, not solid RED, WHITE and BLUE conservatives. People would rather vote for a firebrand Democrat than a wishy washy RINO. That’s what happened yesterday in Virginia. It is draining the swamp the hard way. This keeps up and the lesson is going to be brutal. Trump will win re-election easily but the Graham, McConnel, Ryan types are going to lose big time. In the process, we might lose the house or senate...but we will also be purging out the loser faction of the Republican Party.
