Report: Comey claimed Clinton was "grossly negligent" in emails in early drafts of assessment

In an early draft of former FBI Director James Comey's assessment of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her aides' mishandling of classified materials, Comey reportedly called the actions "grossly negligent," according to a new report by the Wall Street Journal.

The Journal, citing documents received by Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, reports that the phrase was included twice in a May 2016 draft of Comey's statement, which was written before he conducted interviews with several key witnesses, including Clinton herself. The final statement in July, however, used the phrase "extremely careless" instead.

"There is evidence to support a conclusion that Secretary Clinton, and others, used the private email server in a manner that was grossly negligent with respect to the handling of classified material," Comey wrote in the early draft.

I'm surprised CBS published this on their website (probably not on their Nightly News). But they did not explain that "grossly negligent" is the felony standard for handling Confidential Information, nor did they explore why Comey as FBI director would change the bar to specific intent in his July 2016 news conference.

Not to worry.

Those missing Rose Law Firm billings did eventually show up in the White House “map room”

Mere days after the stature of limitations had run out.

That was before he received his invitation to a suicide at Fort Marcy Park.

What’s more stunning is how everyone tried to tell us just how sharp and smart he is/was. Leaving it obvious he never read the Espionage Act before drafting his initial whitewashing. Gee, I wonder who it was that gave him a vowel?

She wasn’t grossly negligent.

She practiced deliberate evasion and deception.

That she instructed Huma Abedin to remove all email classifications is a clear indication of that.

How she has not been prosecuted, convicted, and sentenced is beyond me.

Amazing the “flexibility” of people like Comey when the proper amount of pressure is applied.

The memo has gone out loud & clear I guess, that it is now okay to report the truth about Hillary. She is toast. We never have to worry about any of the Clintons in the future. Now if we can nail them for their phony Foundation their demise will be complete. Time now for exposure to their hero, Barack Obama.

That she has not been prosecuted has nothing to do with the merits of the case. What always and forevermore will override all is the fact the Clintons are above the laws that govern the rest of us.

“She wasn’t grossly negligent. She practiced deliberate evasion and deception.”

Exactly. It was all intentional. All of it, back to Rose Law.

Yes...sadly, you are 100% correct on that. I just purchased Dinesh D’Souza’s “Hillary’s America”, and he laid it out quite well: “Deny, Deny, Deny.”

Yes. It is stunning to me how close she even became to being President.

Stunning.

I know I shouldn’t feel that way after Barack Obama got into office twice, but...I still feel that way...stunned.

Right on.

They’re trying to dismiss this as “an early draft”. Really? What facts changed this opinion? How is “extremely careless” different from “grossly negligent” anyway? I want a precise explanation. It stinks.

That said, you’re right, this wasn’t able being ignorant or careless. It was a direct and deliberate act to not comply with the law and then cover up the activity.

All you have to do is read the Espionage Act - it’s pretty clear and easy to understand. All you have to do is mishandle sensitive information, even by accident, and you’re in violation. What she did was deliberately criminal.

In the eyes of the law or a jusge grossly negligent= extremely careless. ( In effect the same) It was still a violation of espionage act. This needs to be revisited.

Grrrr. And THAT is what pisses me off the most about it, is the sheer chutzpah and arrogance. She can just LIE and dissemble, with a fair expectation she will always stay one step ahead.

When you consider what they would to to a peon like you or I who was in violation (definite prison time for DELIBERATELY doing what she did) what she did seems even more heinous.

How I detest those people like her in our country.

It’s as though political will is driving justice. And the political will is weighted by what the media says.

It’s just like “Trump Russia, Trump Russia, Trump Russia” all day long, and then when we find out Hillary/DNC paid millions in colluding with Russian’s it’s just “nothing to see there”, with “back to Trump Russia” at the same time.

Insane.
