Sen. John McCain's office says he suffered a minor tear in his right Achilles tendon and was treated over the weekend at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

A statement from his office says the 81-year-old Arizona Republican also was treated for "other normal and non-life-threatening side effects of cancer therapy." McCain is in his sixth Senate term and has brain cancer.

McCain was limping badly last week. The statement says he's back at work and will wear a walking boot until his injured tendon is fully healed.

I tore my left Achilles like that a couple years ago. Had to learn to drive a stick without clutching.

Senator, please do the right thing and retire.

Poor guy is wasting away. I do feel sorry for him. He should go home and be with his family.

Rev the engine and take foot off accelerator. As revs drop, slip it out of gear. Goose the gas slightly And as revs drop, it slides right into the next gear.

First is hard, second ok. 3-5 is a breeze. I still drive that way often.

Treated for "other normal and non-life-threatening side effects of cancer therapy."

I was wondering how he tore his Achilles tendon.

I fully ruptured my achilles 6 months ago, extremely painful. Not sure how you partially tear it.

Took me 3 months before I could walk more than 1/2 mile. Plantar Fasciitis usually accompanies a torn achilles making the heal extremely sore.
