Saturday nights UFC 217 event seems to have inspired some of the NFLs wide receivers.
Late in the second quarter of the Jacksonville-Cincinnati game on Sunday, Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green and Jaguars defensive back Jalen Ramsey were both ejected for fighting.
After a play was blown dead just seconds before the end of the first half, Ramsey shoved Green to the ground. Green got up, put Ramsey in a chokehold, threw him down, and began punching Ramseys helmet. As Ramsey rose up to his knees, Green put him in a second chokehold and slammed him back to the ground as most of the Jaguars defense swarmed to Ramseys aide.
The play led to offsetting penalties and the ejection of both players with the Jaguars in the lead 13-7. They are the sixth and seventh players to be ejected from NFL games this year, and this is the second ejection of Ramseys careerRamsey was thrown out of a game against the Raiders last October for fighting.
Ramsey, one of the leagues rising star cornerbacks, is known as a prolific trash talker. He held Green to just one reception on two targets for 6 yards in the first half, which likely added to Greens frustration.
Later, in the second half of the Saints-Buccaneers game, another star wide receiver got into an altercation with a young cornerback. Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston, who had left the game with a shoulder injury at halftime, came off the sideline after a play midway through the third quarter and poked Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore in the back of the helmet. Lattimore turned around and shoved Winston, and the two exchanged words. Within seconds, Tampa Bay receiver Mike Evans sprinted full speed into Lattimore, knocking him to the ground. Evans then appeared to punch Lattimore before the two were separated.
Evans was (somehow) not ejected.
Like Green, Evans had been held to just a single catch at the time of the incident, and the Saints had a 30-3 lead.
Not to be outdone, the Cardinals and 49ers engaged in a scrap toward the end of Arizonas 20-10 victory over San Francisco. Cardinals safety Antoine Bethea hit 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard in the head while Beathard was sliding, which spawned a group-wide shoving match.
Arizona linebacker Haason Reddick, defensive lineman Frostee Rucker, and San Francisco running back Carlos Hyde were ejected for fighting. The 15-yard penalty on Bethea was enforced, while the penalties for fighting offset each other. Its like something was in the water on Sunday.
They should just go full Rollerball and start playing to the death.
How did the joke go....
I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out!
Rollerball would be cool.
Tell me again why should I care about these pseudo-gladiators?
Feral trop thugs
I don’t know. Why did you click on the thread?
I predict that one day, an NFL-thug type player will begin fighting someone and pull a knife out.
That will change a lot of what is tolerated or expected on the field.
Why do I say that?
Because so many of the top players exhibit such poor impulse control and problem resolution skills.
It won’t work - I’m still not watching.
Correctomundo. It was 100% staged. FTNFL. (F#ck The NFL)
A small minority of the players are risking the jobs, or, at the very least, the take-home pay of everyone. How will they get paid millions of dollars if the customers don’t show up? Are endorsements disappearing? Tensions are bound to show up on the field, as well as off, when finances are affected.
me neither....we’ve got nascar, college football, and our favorite local college womens bb team had its first game today!
Calling it UFC is a disgrace. More like Jerry Springer. NFL is trash.

I wonder if also the stress of future financial difficulties is getting to them. I dont think these guys think about that or about anything but I wonder if the stress from the execs is trickling down
Just because I like to see failure -I should say I enjoy it- in a group of people who are subversive about our beloved Old Glory

And the National Felons League continues circling the drain.

Another kneeler wouldn’t even show up to take a team photo.
NFL is out of control.
“Leonard Fournette is not playing in today’s game due to an infraction of a team rule,” coach Doug Marrone said in a statement. “This has been addressed internally and further details will not be made public.”
Among the reasons Fournette was deactivated for Sunday’s game was that he missed the Jaguars’ team photo on Oct. 24.
It’s a one-game suspension, sources tell ESPN. Fournette will be back next week.
Wouldn’t bother me. I still wont bow and worship them or their system.

Granted, a lot of these teams are losing this year. Still, seems pretty amazing.
