"Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice" by Sidney Powell

“Licensed to Lie” is a soul crusher of a book that in very naked terms exposes the ugly corruption the we see in the Department of Justice. This book, written in 2014, will destroy any faith you have left in the American justice system, for the ending is not happy. You will weep for your country as a horde of “arrogant, narcissistic, overzealous, ignorant, corrupt” federal prosecutors suborn perjury, withhold evidence, threaten citizens, extort witnesses through solitary confinement, harass families, knowingly send innocent people to prison, and lie with every breath, with no one to stop their crime wave, except the Supreme Court. It all happened as Sidney Powell lived through it as the successful appellate lawyer, who claims she was forced to write this book because she could not bear the ignored corruption in her beloved legal profession.

The sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach comes with the realization that these deceitful lawyers have been left unscathed by the failed system, and horrifyingly, are promoted to higher and higher positions in the US Government. Names are named, but the ultimate Body Snatcher moment comes when a few of these scoundrels are selected to work for Bob Mueller in the Russia investigation.

Sidney Powell tells the story of the prosecutorial misconduct that destroyed US Senator Ted Stevens, destroyed Arthur Andersen, and sent four innocent Merrill Lynch bankers to prison in the Enron scandal. These convictions were mostly all reversed by the Supreme Court or Fifth Circuit for apparent reasons. The book reads like a fast paced legal thriller, replete with lying lawyers, threats, prison cells, suicides, hidden evidence, disappearing witnesses, lazy judges and a tidal wave of prosecutorial misconduct by government lawyers! Sidney Powell powers through the years, like a Frank Serpico, an honest person walking through a Dante’s hell of corruption that has no check, nor balance save for one federal judge, Emmet Sullivan, as a sole island of sanity. But he cannot be everywhere, and most of the lazy federal judges are happy being spoon fed their words by the US attorneys. Sidney does the backbreaking appeals work, reading tractor trailers of documents and providing a plethora of compelling courtroom speeches that a gang of grim, Kremlin like federal judges continued to ignore, until they couldn’t. It rings of a Stalinist show trial, or a Franz Kafka midnight arrest as the power of the government to crush innocent lives is overwhelmingly demonstrated.

There is some satisfaction, in the Arthur Andersen case, when Antonin Scalia, starts “putting the wood” to the government lawyers for their horrible work, and the conviction is thrown out by a score of 9 – 0. Yet one realizes the resources a regular citizen will need to reach that point of protection are astronomical.

The NYT refused to review the book. Barnes and Noble will not stock it. Even the NY Post spiked a story about it. The corrupt prosecutors were never sanctioned, in fact they have received promotions and high positions in the Obama White House, DOJ and the current Mueller legal team. None of the accused prosecutors named in this book have ever fought the author. The written record provides too much evidence. Ethical charges were brought against the lawyers at the time, by ethical duty of the appellate legal team, and ignored and dismissed by the various governing bodies. Which, by the way, looked like an ugly deep state reaction. None of the corrupt prosecutors’ criminal convictions held up, but somehow they are free of any misconduct, when there is evidence to the contrary – it does not compute.

Senator Orrin Hatch held the book to the TV cameras during the Loretta Lynch hearings and asked her to promise to read it and to clean up the DOJ, which she agreed. I doubt she ever read it, seeing how she conducted herself. Remember the corruption in the Ted Stevens criminal case changed the balance of power in the Senate – and was that done by design? It was only thwarted by a FBI agent, Chad Joy, (who deserves a Nobel Prize), and stood up as a whistle blower and said the prosecution withheld evidence! The arrogance in the Arthur Andersen prosecution destroyed a world class firm and 35,000 jobs, yet its conviction was thrown out! It never should have happened. Corruption has very bad consequences.

This book needs to be read, Judge Alex Kozinski wrote the forward and supports the effort, it is a brave work and unfortunately, too accurate. Sidney is hated by the DOJ and they often refuse speaking venues if she is present at the event. She is a brave woman but the facts are so compelling, that I am sure her enemies do not want to debate them.

>>How many million have to show up in DC for them to get the message that we’re beyond pissed?<<

What it’s going to take to get every unelected anti-American traitor out of our Federal government and indicted for treason is a complete shutdown of Washington until such time as demands for their arrest can be confirmed.

No, you are right, those scandals were happening concurrently, but the author had not worked on those cases.

This book, “Licensed to Lie”, demonstrates the deceit, arrogance, and corruption of the US attorneys in detailed documented cases which are impossible for the scoundrels to refute. It is very easy to extrapolate that behavior to the scandals of F&F, servergate and now Russia. Mueller is going to extort bizarre confessions from people with threats of 30 years in jail. He will force people to lie, like they did in Enron and Arthur Andersen. This Russian investigation could turn into a Russian Revolution as the entire government is taken down in show trials. Like Enron, the government will knowingly cause people to perjure themselves, and none of those US attorneys had gone to jail.

This book is a few years old but it highlights the unconstitutional and insidious techniques the government will use on innocent people to get their headline trophy. We are re-living the Soviet Union. Mueller is Lavrenti Beria. (One way that descriptions would be false if he pursues the dossier, Uranium One and Hillary’s putrid fund, but don’t hold your breath. Yet, if Russia is involved, how can he ignore all those schemes. He may have to recuse himself since some happened on his watch!)

Be warned and beware, and remember sunlight is the best disinfectant.

Yep, and that was my point. It has been how DOJ has operated under Obama. Those prosecutors may yet end up paying for their dastardly deeds. Time will tell. Sounds like a good book though.

Senator Orrin Hatch held the book to the TV cameras during the Loretta Lynch hearings and asked her to promise to read it and to clean up the DOJ, which she agreed.

ALL he has to do, along with the Senate and House Leadership, is pass a bill prohibiting all kinds of unprofessional behavior and actions, provide strong, independent oversight to the same and put it place robust penalties to those who abuse their authority.

That's all Congress has to do. I'll bet the illegal portion of the Clinton Foundation finances Trump would sign it in a heartbeat.

Yet all these Fools on the Hill pontificate and virtue signal and not a THING gets done.

It will take at least 8 years to have any impact on draining the swamps from DC to a local town council.

The internet and locals are enabling some swap draining at the local levels. Crooks/People on school boards, principals, teachers, money grubbers in councils and local government are resigning to prevent full knowledge being released.

“The government is allowed to lie to you, but it is illegal for you to lie to the government. Who’s really in charge? Freedom? It all belongs to our overseer lords: the Deep State Swamp.”

The Brits have used your rule above to protect their national secrets.

In recent years, unless you are a Muslim Jihadist, that rule applies to all other citizens in any crime investigation.
