“A police spokesperson confirmed after the building had been deemed ‘safe enough’ to enter...”
That is why I carry. I may be a customer in the building BEFORE it is safe enough for the police to enter.

Ask the shoppers that survived. If more than one shopper identifies the same person youll have a description. If fewer shoppers had guns more shoppers would be dead.

Yet, still not recognizing CCW from other states. Shame.

" Well if you guys stopped going to the donut shop, you wont be bitching about work you are supposed to do." What the story doesn't inform you of, is the Thornton cop shop is a block South, around the corner, and a half block West from the Walmart!

Seriously? LOL. That’s like the Hollywood cop station in 2011 and 2016 on Sunset and vine and the cop station is located 2 blocks away. They responded in 20 minutes when anyone can walk those blocks within 5.

“Im not going to criticize Thornton PD street cops over this. Ive had one encounter with them while I was carrying, and it went in the most outstanding way I hoped it would. Those guys and gals are good people.”
I’m sure that they are - as is the case with most street officers. But the PR person who complained about the extra time the cops needed to review the video tapes really needs to go back to PR school.

“We take carry here seriously and anti-gun Democrats lost seats in special elections.
We have a vibrant Second Amendment culture in this state.”
Tell it to Gov. Chickenpooper and the Denver/Boulder democrats.

This is the prelude to banning people from pulling guns in self defense unless actually being shot at.

I’m a firearms instructor myself.
I understand your reasoning, and it’s sound. That being said, us “sheepdogs” have a natural reaction to go into “Defend and Protect” mode.
My guess is that’s what happened. Folks had their kids there, wives, mothers, etc., and they were putting their bodies and their firearms in the path between scumbag perp and their loved ones.

They also probably stopped the shooters rampage. They should get some credit for that. But it's so much easier for them to rule out suspects when they are dead, and they just have to look for the one person who is still alive and has a gun. < /sarc>

Everytime I go to Wal-Mart, my Ruger 380 goes inside with me in my pocket.
While....my 30 shot Ruger 9mm stays in the truck. My 40 Cal. Model 22 Glock goes everywhere with me where there is not a metal detector.

Let’s see... being detained for 7 hours vs facing a criminal gunman unarmed... Not really a tough choice for me.
To: RC one
and yet they still managed to capture the shooter in 10 hrs. Mostly because he was a moron and drove by his house in the most wanted car in the state while a hundred cops and TV crews were there.
