A day after Papa Johns CEO claimed that player protests in the NFL were responsible for lower sales at the chain, the man in charge of Pizza Hut says thats ridiculous.
Were not seeing impact on any of that on our business, Greg Creed, CEO of Yum Brandsparent company of Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and other chainssaid in a call with investors on Thursday. (Reuters) - Starbucks Corp (SBUX.O) cut its profit forecast and posted disappointing quarterly results on Thursday, amid a bitter battle with competitors ranging from boutique coffee seller Intelligentsia to lower-price rivals like McDonalds.
what ridiculous? What is possibly going on is that Papa John’s declining sales had to do directly with him being a sponsor, which would have no negative effect on other pizza companies.
The hut isn’t a go to home delivery priced pizza.
Well, bye bye Pizza Hut. Keep on living the NFL! The stupid is strong in this one.
Pizza Hut just trying to get some free PR. They sued Papa Johns years ago over their slogan better ingredients better Pizza. Pizza Hut lost but there is no live loss between these two companies
Is Pizza Hut an NFL Sponser ?
Exactly!
Pizza Hut embracing politics over bottom line.
Legitimate bottom line, that is.
“Papa Johns declining sales had to do directly with him being a sponsor, which would have no negative effect on other pizza companies.”
Exactly, they just confirmed his point.
The NFL is the problem.
Yeah, they are not mutually exclusive - Papa John’s is on boycott lists by virtue OF their sponsorship. So maybe investors should be asking Pizza Hut why their sales are not UP?
Has anyone tried their stuff lately? I haven’t in years. Papa Johns was good the last time I tried.
Were not seeing impact on any of that on our business, Greg ..
You will now.
Papa Johns was a big time sponsor...Pizza Hut...nope.
Yep. Their ad budget is NFL and less people are watching.
Pizza Hut set themselves up for a colossal smackdown. This has taken stupid to a new level. I changed the channel immediately when the Denver Donkeys took a knee and have not tuned in to a MFL game since. I would not blame Pappa Johns who seems upset at the black pampers in the MFL, but pizza hut is not. Pizza hut, bye.
Not a sponser according to this article.

It’s been years, but yeah—cheap and filled you up.
Papa John’s box isn’t bad either. A little chewy.
Funny. Pizza Hut had nowhere to go but up.
Exactly. A free shot at the competition.
