Egyptian Lawyer Says It Is a ‘National Duty’ for Men to Rape Girls Who Wear Ripped Jeans

Egypt’s National Council for Women now plans to file a complaint against the lawyer and the TV channel.

I'm not sure the women's movement in Egypt or in the Muslim world, really understands the irony of a Muslim woman, complaining, about anything, in the Muslim world, and being taken any where near seriously.

In spite of recent political and social developments in the Middle East and in the Muslim world in general, I am afraid that many many Muslim males still find this lawyer's assertions to be true and correct. They will continue to treat their women-folk less than their dogs, until the hijabs and burkas come off, and the knives come out.

And they will find no help or support from the Western "sisterhood." For the Left in America and the West, the fight for women's rights ends at our borders.

The "feminist" movement in the Muslim world, seems to want the Western ideals of American women, while still supporting, nurturing, and growing another generation of Islam. (Like Gorbachev wanting to preserve the core of communism while promoting and benefiting from glasnost and perestroika.)

Oil and water. Muslim women cannot have their freedoms while supporting the very system/culture that keeps them enslaved. Are there parallels to the Western suffragette movement? Were Western, and in particular, American women enslaved by our system/culture? Don't know.

More power to 'em. They're gonna need it.
