Recently, a few high-profile events have illustrated the Democratic Party’s overdependence on the race card and Democrats’ need to wallow in identity politics.
Since President Trump came to office, the left has ramped up its attacks on Republicans. Democrats are trying to rally liberal activists and a cooperative media to cast most everyone within the GOP as racists who sympathize with white supremacists. Democrats howl about Republicans, make everything about race or “diversity,” and don’t notice that voters are turned off. In the process, Democrats are further alienating many rational, thoughtful voters. It is easy to see that liberals’ insistence on politically correct identity politics isn’t just idiotic. In the past 24 hours, we are reminded that it is also dangerous.
The Democrats use identity politics to develop their campaigns, organize their party and impose their will via government policy. Qualified people are excluded from service, good candidates are smeared, and Americans are put in danger. But somehow, Democrats think this is progress. They think this is justice. It is what they want to do more of when they are in power.
Shame on them.

Re first sentence: can we agree that the word is “Democrat,” not “Democratic”?
That should give pause to anyone who thinks Democrats should return to power.

Once a year or so they trot out a token news story that on 1st glance appears to reflect badly on the Demo-rat party. It’s just a ruse.
This is like advocating that the one trick pony give up it’s one trick.
The author needs a struggle session.
It’s not the, “Democratic” Party!
I think everyone should use the term Jack Ass party instead.
Every article now seems to be using the, “Democratic” party meme. Did a memo go out?
The dems are losing their minds in the WaPo comments section.
The Democrats do harm, period. They are evil and dangerous.
The race card has really lost all of its magic since the blacks authorized its free use to their white massas down at the DNC. That was a big mistake. Intelligent people just shrug off the race card these days.
It appears to me they are striving to dismantle democracy.
Looks like they may have overplayed their hand with the Virginia ad. Even the Washington Post has trouble excusing that one.
The race card scheme failed when there were more Hispanic cards issued than black ones (starting in 2000). Hispanics are quietly being dropped from affirmative action plans because they routinely outperform blacks for set-aside slots.
Unlike blacks, Hispanics actually have economic and political diversity; too many have come here to work for the last several decades, and they want the American Dream - not just free sh!t while rotting on a welfare reservation.
HALLELUJAH; somebody else finally noticed.
The MSM has been trying to slip this George Orwell language change in for over two years and I thought I was the only one screaming about it.
Doesn’t it just sound so much nicer though; “were the DEMOCRATIC PARTY”, implying that everybody is included regardless of their station in life.
Never let the plebeian masses know that their place is now, and always will be ON THE PLANTATION.
