President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he would consider sending Sayfullo Saipov, the Uzbek national who plowed a rented truck through a bike lane full of cyclists and pedestrians on Tuesday, to the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. 'I would certainly consider that, yes. I would certainly consider that. Send him to Gitmo,' Trump said. Separately, Senate Armed Services Committee chairman John McCain, a Republican who has tangled with the president on taxes and Obamacare, said Saipov should be considered an 'enemy combatant' and denied Miranda rights by police. The president also declared that he is already moving to terminate the State Department's diversity-oriented visa lottery program, which granted Saipov entry into the United States in 2010.

It is. It’s so refreshing to see someone who has our best interest at heart in that position.

Has Mr. Obama advocated for sending him to the Bahamas?

Enemy combatant on US soil.

No Miranda rights, legal representation, or due process.

Send to Gitmo.

I love this idea, and I'd push hard to implement it despite all the predictable outrage from civil libertarian lawyers.

I've been saying for years that foreign citizens who commit violent crimes here in the U.S. should be treated as prisoners of war and subject to military trials instead of criminal trials in civilian courts.

Send him to Gitmo indefinitely. If Uzbekistan wants to claim him, then let their ambassador to the U.S. answer for him. If Uzbekistan DOES claim him, then drop him on their capital from 30,000 feet and add them to the list of countries for "extreme vetting" by the DHS.

Politically, this would be a huge winner. This kind of measure would probably get the support of 85% of American citizens.

YES! I have been waiting for someone to make better use of this facility while it still belongs to the U.S.A.
Yes! This will stir up a tidal wave of angst. Oh well!

Send him to Gitmo and some judge somewhere will order him back to the U.S. for trial. Better just to try him, convict him, sentence him, and lock him up. If you don’t trust New York to do it then try him in federal court.

I agree. Treat these people as enemy combatants. Transfer to Guantanamo. Military trial followed by a noose.

I mean this in all seriousness. If these people know that, if they survive, they’ll be in Gtmo, forever, and forever might end in a hanging far from prying eyes, it will have much more impact on their demented minds.

Trump says 'Send him to Gitmo' as he considers banishing 'animal' New York terror suspect

All that howling and gnashing of teeth I'm hearing must be coming from the leftist bleeding heart libs after they heard The President say this! I like Presdent Trump better every day!

As for McVeigh - call me a conspiracy theorist, but SOMEONE high up didn't want him around to talk. Have you ever seen, or heard of [in modern times], a case being moved through and the culprit executed as fast as he was?

If we just ‘deport’ him, he’ll simply sneak back into the country. This should be done with MS13 members too.
We’ll need to make some changes to reduce the risk to the prison guards.

McVay attacked a Federal building, thus he came under Federal, not Oklahoma law. Now, this guy did rent his truck in NJ to commit a crime in NY but I don’t know if that would get him the needle.

He’ll definitely be tried in Federal court, since New York doesn’t have a death penalty.
