I thought it was supposed to look like the American flag only the stars were replaced with the cross. Anyway, sweet. Thanks.
I’m somewhat Constitutionally picky.
What the “Establishment Clause” actually says is : “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”.
All else is bafflegab and obfuscation.
Congress didn’t pass a law putting those flags up there; so Atheists, sod off.
I had the same impression from the description but this was the picture on Fox News.
I was born & raised in Wisconsin.
This group truly sickens me.
They provided a link in the very first paragraph
I don’t follow every link in an article, thus I missed it. Thanks.
Don’t mess with Texas atheists!!!
~~~~~~~~~~
No, you leftist, atheist liars -- your idiotic position violates our Constitution's FREE EXERCISE clause!!!
You are displaying gross ignorance and/or religious bigotry.
Go to any image search engine, and search for Christian Flag. What you will see is a full screen of exactly the same flag that is flying from those pickup trucks.
(Be forewarned: on Bing Images, the page includes a single example of an abomination of perversion -- a mockery of the Christian flag -- with the white replaced by rainbow-stripes and a cross that is feces-brown...)
Otherwise, you will find that this
is recognized by the majority of Americans (including a majority of Christians) -- as well as the companies who make and sell flags -- as "The Christian Flag".
“They are ‘defending’ an alleged ‘Christian flag’ not recognized by most Christians.”
Really? “Alleged”? You need to get out more. Most (true) Christian churches have the Christian Flag in the church. I learned the Pledge To The Christian Flag when I learned the Pledge to the American Flag.
I thought that flag was the flag of a specific Christian denomination, like Methodists or sumpthin.
What the people who make and sell the flag call it is evidence of nothing.
Would you care for a pledge to a Vatican flag at your kid's school?
They are pushing one particular sect on the taxpayer's dime.
The citizens of LaRue, Texas are following the "Free exercise" (or"expression") clause of the Constitution's First Amendment. And, the school is theirs.
Note that there are three (3) flagpoles at that school, and that both the student body and their parents (citizen taxpayers who fund the school) apparently feel that is is a good thing that third pole be used to fly the Christian flag. And, it appears that has been the case for many years.
I would be very surprised if, on their own, the school installed that third flagpole and flew the flag daily. I'd be willing to bet a barbecue dinner that both the pole and the flag were, instead, implemented at the insistence of the people of the community.
IOW, it is the citizenry, and not the school that is "respecting an establishment of religion" and, "enjoying the exercise thereof" -- which is their absolute Constitutional right.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
You have now confirmed that you are displaying religious bigotry, rather than ignorance. Take your FFRF attitude, and -- until you can outvote the citizens of La Rue, Texas -- shove it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~
Are you sure you didn't intend that to read,
? '-)
Are you OK?
~~~~~~~~~~
Yes, indeed, Madam! '-)
My comments were "shared info copy only" to you.
And, based on your #18, I expected that you would appreciate my closing the discussion with salman.
My expectation was that you would appreciate my defense of our "free expression" rights as Christians. I further expected that, like I, you would abhor the left's (and other atheists') malignant use of the Congressional prohibition against making laws "respecting an establishment of religion", while acting as if the"free expression" clause does not exist.
My apologies -- if sharing my efforts to slap down an anti-religious, bigoted troll (who referred to the whole of Christianity as a "sect") disturbed you! Believe me: You and I are both on the same side!
Since FR has no "CC" or "BCC" function, next time,I will use a separate comment to send folks like you a "FYI -- info copy only" ping...
May your day be blessed!
Oh... thanks for the explanation. I was confused. And you’re right; a bcc option would be convenient.
