Steve Bannon warns California might secede from the US
Washington Examiner ^ | Oct 21, 2017 | Daniel Chaitin

Steve Bannon warned Friday evening that California might pose a "problem" to the U.S. by attempting to secede.

Couching his statement on California's status as a "sanctuary state," Bannon, President Trump's former chief strategist, contended that California's Democrats and "the lords of Silicon Valley" would attempt to flee like states did in the run-up to the Civil War if the policy isn't turned around.

"You are a sanctuary state," he told a crowd in Anaheim at the California Republican Party convention. "If you do not roll this back, 10 or 15 years from now the folks in Silicon Valley and progressive Democrats are going to try to secede from the union."

The issue of secession was settled 150 years ago, Bannon contended, adding, "And it's going to be a ... problem here in California."

California became a "sanctuary state" earlier this month, after Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill on that prevents law enforcement officers from "asking about immigration status during routine interactions," defying the Trump administration.

During his speech, Bannon touted "economic nationalism," contending that people who " "are working two jobs" "got screwed" while those profiting in Silicon Valley "think they get a special deal" by getting "all the benefits of a free society," according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

He blamed China for gaming the system in favor of "Silicon Valley, Wall Street, Hollywood and Washington, D.C."

Bannon, who is back at Breitbart News as executive chairman, also condemned former President George W. Bush, who just one day prior delivered speech widely seen as an implicit rebuke of Trump.

"There has not been a more destructive presidency than George Bush's," Bannon said.

It would be...interesting.

For one thing the conservative resistance would be formidable. In an open warzone, there would also be much payback.

People in the farmlands still haven't forgotten what the CA leftists did to their now dead farmlands.

It would not be secession. It would look more like "The Purge".

And they can keep DiFi.

When Reagan died his funeral train went through So Cal. There was a photo of a guy who had got up onto the back of his pick up. He was watching the hearse go past. He had his hand over his heart

We want him. He can move to Texas.

Sorry, Bannon simply wrong on this. The Dems in the rest of the county absolutely would NEVER allow this to happen.

Are you kidding? They would never win another election, ever, without a base of 55 electoral votes. Romney would have won, HW Bush would have won, Ford would have won.

Moreover, the House would flip instantly to R dominance.

No, the national D party will literally physically & violently remove ppl in leadership in CA if they really get too close to this.

“Invade arrest the organizers for treason.”

I like the way you think. California’s real estate, resources, etc. are too valuable. It needs to be reconquered...illegal beans and dems thrown across the southern border or driven into the sea.

Is California seceding a bad thing?

Losing (almost) our entire Pacific border? The military bases there?

The whole idea is preposterous, unless.... Let them "secede" and then immediately invade them as a preemptive defensive measure. Toss the entire govt cabal in federal prisoner and start a decades-long enema to clean the place of illegals.... yeah, it could work.

I can’t find it. It was gone a few days after. I think it was time magazine on line

It was a great photo but Time would’ve dumped it because it was a tribute to Reagan. A spontaneous one too. Their worst dream

Is that how West Virginia came about?

For the most part. Virginia seceded form the USA, then West Virginia seceded form Virginia which didn't really recognize her statehood status. Neither did the CSA proper. And since the top hatted bloody goon in the White House would NEVER recognize the CSA, West Virginia independence for Virginia was in defiance of the US Constitution. To make matters worse West Virginia was unconstitutionally admitted to the union. Very confusing.

>>one can hope

At first I thought this too. After all, a People are not free if they are forced to stay in a union they collectively do not wish to.

But then I thought, why should we give up any land to mostly illegals and truly brain damaged people?

California should be sifted. Militarily if necessary.

What ever it takes.

The only land the Federal Government owns are parks and such. These could be negotiated through treaty.
