I was just impacted by that, even if marginally. I got a notice that it was time to renew my IL DL, and it explained the whole thing.

Fortunately for me, after grinding through all these new requirements, my bottom line was that since I was not changing my address or other info, I only need to present my current IL DL. The state will do the rest of the required vetting.

Well, it says so right there! But I’m thinking I’d better bring this along. OTOH, if they tell me otherwise, what will be my recourse? Still, it seems iron clad, so I am optimistic, at least.

Tell me how / why U.S. Customs and Immigration officials allow totally non English speaking Latinos to board a US bound aircraft ,and arrive there with zero further controls or checks . Clustering like Spanish speaking chickens , furtively looking around nervously . Tell me that these are legitimately documented visa holding arrivals . From Mexico , via Canada .

I mentioned the situation to the local ICE office and was told about what you just told me .
I say BS . I’m from Missouri ; Show me ....
My own ‘illegals radar ‘ works real good . Real damn good ...

Yeah - it’s criminal to inconvenience those who live in States that refuse an ID system that helps weed out illegals and terrorists who keep slipping under the RADAR because of “officials” not caring if they’re illegal or have other evil aspirations.....

As a child born to two US citizen parents on a military base in Germany in the ‘60’s - I had to be naturalized when my parents brought me home at eighteen months of age. I have to keep the papers in a safe at my house because my birth certificates are all written and stamped in German...

Last time I renewed my license I had to bring a copy of the birth certificate, the naturalization papers, my social security card, and two pieces of mail - they had to be bills - addressed to me at my address in the county where I was getting the license.

Naturalization papers have a code - and my code wasn’t in the database. So I wasn’t allowed to renew my license and was given a temporary good for ninety days while they sorted it out.

It took exactly 89 days for them to call and let me know that I was okay to get a license.

I’ve had a license from three different states, and I’m a military veteran with an honorable discharge.

Oh - and one of the funny aspects of the story: The woman at the DDS made copies of all my paperwork - including the naturalization papers. I had to point out to her that it’s a federal crime to do so - it’s even printed right there on the thing in bright red ink. Her reaction - and that of all her “supervisors” was priceless. Took them almost an hour to figure out what to do without being able to copy one of my “affirming” documents.

So the answer to your question is: The extra info is your birth certificate or passport, you social security card, and two bills addressed to you at your current address.

Good luck to you!

Thanks for the info.

I received in the mail the other day my license renewal notice and for NH I have the option of getting the “national ID” or getting a regular old license.

I’ll opt for the regular old license.

The idea of handing over the info you mentioned makes my skin crawl.
