20,000 feet is a long way to plunge. That’s four miles!
Sounds like the flight crew did exactly the right thing.
Lost cabin pressure and immediately descended at max rate to 10000’.
Not pleasant. But it’s what you have to do...
I bet they’ll have to power wash the interior.
Maybe the airline crew should train for 20,000 foot drops so they won’t panic.
The pilot probably pushed the "wheel" forward...hard...as soon at the oxygen warning bell rang.
“This......is your pilot.
We’re.....running a little......
low on air. So......we’ll be
dropping like a rock.
Please remain......seated. And
if you’re in the restroom....
....sucks to be you.”
Flew Air Asia from KL to Jakarta and it smelled like fuel in the cabin.
WoooHooo, what a ride that was!!
My mother told me of a flight she was on that hit an air pocket and the plane plunged a thousand feet or so and she screamed when it happened. I imagine others did but she only told me she screamed. I’ve never had that happen to me. Turbulence and a few painful earaches when descending is all the fun I have ever experienced while flying.
