Trump Needs Reinforcements In US Senate

The most visible obstacles to enacting the agenda of President Donald Trump in Congress are individual Republican senators who have been blocking critical items from passing the Senate.

So far, it has ensnared Republican attempts to repeal and replace Obamacare. But now it appears to be gumming up the works on tax cuts, too, as members cannot seem to agree on the state and local government tax exemption, cutting spending and other budget treatment issues for the tax plan. And one suspects the southern border wall and other border security measures could die similar deaths in the Senate.

At least the first two, repealing Obamacare and cutting taxes, have been put on budget reconciliation bills that only require a simple majority to pass. They would be significant legislative accomplishments if they were passed. Instead, they are increasingly being viewed as major failures by the Republican Congress to pass prior to the 2018 midterm campaign season from kicking off.

Adding to voter frustration, only seven – count them, seven – of Trump’s 54 nominees for federal courts have been confirmed this year.  Presidents in modern history average over 160 per term.  They’re way off pace.

Wouldn’t it be nice if they could be the Republicans?

I’ve never been this angry about the House and Senate.

I don’t understand Trump going right to the wall on healthcare. He is still at it today. I get it, there are a lot of Republicans who don’t like Obamacare, but the fact is there are plenty of Republicans who like aspects of the changes to our healthcare system. Like me. Trump won because he took a lot of votes which would have otherwise gone Democrat.

So Trump is STILL fighting this fight.

Yet where is the border wall? THAT was why I supported Trump from very early. It seems to have slipped off the radar screen. Despite being a major issue Trump actually won on.

Where are we on making things in America again? Again, this issue was a major reason Trump is our President right now. Trump won, because a lot of Democrats also voted for him. But again, nothing yet.

Trump you are losing sight of your original voter block.

We are still waiting.

You must have missed the multiple posts about proto-types for the wall being built near San Deigo.

The route is being approved, the design is being finalized.

The wall is being built.

Exactly. The wall is moving forward. And Trump mentioned it again in his tax policy speech in PA.

I’m finished voting in congressional elections. Congress does little of what it is supposed to do and much of what it has no business doing.
