At $15, it’s over $60k per year.

While that’s not territory of the rich, it is territory of the surviving pretty well.

Depending on where you live. Throw in a couple of kids and the family could be on food stamps and subsidized rent...ie dirt poor.

Despite his apology, Ditka wouldn’t have put up with any of this c**p from any player in his day.

If you can’t afford to live somewhere, move.

If you still can’t afford to live there and support kids, then don’t have kids.

Get a better job. Get more education.

Nobody said life was going to be easy, but we all face pretty much the same hurdles.

The lesson of Trump is that if you have nothing to apologize for, don’t apologize. In fact you should double down and accuse the people who are going after you as being racists who misstated what you actually said.

Unfortunately he did go to far, mentioning 100 years. He should have known better.

“no apology was necessary. at least for the last 60 years”

Maybe 50 years...but I get your point. He should have been more careful.

I'll have to break from the crowd here. Jim Crow, Bull Connor, lynchings, attacks on Civil Rights activists, and more all occurred within the past hundred years.

All of these have something else in common too.

The only error was 100 years. Probably closer to 55 or 70 years.

Yet in those days blacks were far more successful and had stronger families than today.

Yes, all brought to you by the Democrat Party!

No, “Iron Mike” got called on the carpet and his pension was threatened unless he issued a public apology.

Everybody’s got their price.

The “no oppression in the past 100 years” was an inarguably erroneous statement. There hasn’t been oppression in the NFL in its 97 year history, but there certainly has been in the US during the past 100 years. None of it in the lifetimes of the current crop of NFL players.

Ditka should have just ‘revised and extended’ his remarks, not apologized, unless he didn’t “apologize” but that’s the word used by the writer.

Rule #4: Believe nothing.
