The Left’s Sirens Are Already Hinting Our Culture Wars Will End In Another Civil War
The Federalist ^ | 10/10/2017 | John Daniel Davidson

The radicalization of the Democratic Party is transforming everything that happens in America into another battle in our unending culture war.

Is there anything left in American public life that isn’t an occasion for political rancor and division? NFL games are now nothing more than crude pieces of political theater. On Sunday even Vice President Mike Pence got in on the act, showing up to a Colts-49ers game then leaving after a few players knelt during the national anthem. Next day was Columbus Day, which the cities of Los Angeles and Austin decided this year to replace with “Indigenous Peoples’ Day,” because Christopher Columbus is apparently the new Robert E. Lee. And it’s only Tuesday.

It should be obvious by now that our culture wars will henceforth be constant and unending; the next battle could be triggered by almost anything. Whether it’s the reactions (or non-reactions) of Hollywood celebrities to the unsurprising news of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual misdeeds or the outraged calls for the repeal of the Second Amendment the instant news broke of the Las Vegas massacre, very little can happen in America now without it being an occasion for an appeal to one’s own political tribe. No matter how tawdry or horrifying the news, there is vanishingly little room for solidarity because there is no appetite for it. Not even late-night comedy shows with their shrinking audiences can resist the urge to devolve into partisan political rants.

For all his eagerness to wage the culture wars in his improvised, bombastic style, this didn’t begin with Donald Trump. It didn’t begin with Barack Obama, either, but a recent study by Pew Research Center found that divisions between Republicans and Democrats on fundamental political values reached record levels during the Obama administration. .. {..snip..}

Remember all those good Republican Senators that voted for Ginsberg?, Souter?, against the marriage amendment? That wanted to vote for Myers? That wanted to vote for Amnesty (twice).

What a lop sided war it would be.

Unless they received outside help.

Nope. But do we have the anger to shoot our Progressive neighbor in the face? The War Between the States was not a civil war.

We stand in line at the grocery store with people who are the enemy of our American exceptionalism and personal freedom. We work with them. We say hi to them as we pump gas.

And they think that we are the enemy of global security, a safe climate, and financial security for all people.

A civil war is inevitable with these people (or they will enslave us), but I do not look forward to it or think it will be easy.

Nope, it won't be easy, but, if my neighbor comes across the property line with the intent to do me or mine harm or to try anything to reduce the God-given rights that we enjoy, that's when the line has been crossed and I have found my hill to die on ...

The Democrats lost the first civil war they started in 1861. They’ll lose this one.

Don’t like the implications of another Civil War but while we still have the numbers, population wise, I say:

Bring it on, B#t#hes!!

Luckily for us, the enemy has been quite happy to stand up & self identify since the election.

They've surrendered the element of surprise before the war

There will be no war until the police and the military choose sides.

..but I do not look forward to it or think it will be easy.

But, with all war, it is either winning or losing, living or dying.

I'll gladly pull the trigger if threatened.

According to Trevor Loudon, the AFL-CIO and the Democrat party became Communist in 1994. And, of course, the Republican Party was dominated by the Bush murder and cocaine syndicate—which is really the Clinton-Bush murder and cocaine syndicate.

There is still a deep strain of intellectual dishonesty among “conservatives.” In order to dodge the truth about the criminality on the “right” (pretending that all the treason and crime has been on the left), they willingly abase themselves by publicly accepting that a kerosene fire (1500°F) can melt steel (3000°F). The fact that 1500 is less than 3000 is called a “conspiracy theory.”

The willingness to make oneself ridiculous rather than affirm simple arithmetic is proof of very deep moral corruption.

Hey, there are 5 flights out of TIA each day. I’ll bring my go bag and something chambered in 5.56x45.

Will that help?

Being brought up on a small remote ranch, I’ve never had any love for “real” liberals-there just weren’t any around, until I came to the city to go to college in the late 60’s-talk about culture shock...

After having to live around and deal with them in cities for all the years my 1st husband and MrT5 were in the military or employed as civilians, I was more than happy to finally be able to return to BFE where the only libs are some tourists who are either day trippers or snowbirds only here for the Winter-since I work out here, I have to be nice to them, but I’m always glad when the slack season-mid Sept to early December-comes, even if it is financially tight.

I used to think secession of some states would be a bad thing, but in recent years I’ve changed my opinion-liberals need the resources and $$$ of red states far more than we need anything from them-so if liberals want to keep poking the grizzly bear, I say bring it mother***ers-we do grow a lot of the food, have most of the guns, and the military won’t follow liberals, either...

Yep. The pretty graphs posted elsewhere in the thread ignore that it’s “middle” has been consistently been moving relative to the left, which is to say that what the lefts is willing to consider “moderate” is left of where it used to be.

Much left in fact.

But that means that those who might have previously been considered moderates are now (if they’ve not moved left) part of the right wing to the left.

Self identification then imposes a problem. Moderates who have moved leftward along with the culture probably still consider themselves moderates. Consistent liberals who have not moved left wards may now consider themselves moderates. Effects like these should compress the left towards the left while expanding the right to occupy its former distribution if corrected for.

Yes... we live in a suburb in the reddest state in the union, but we have a cattle ranch we inherited that is WAY off the grid. We’re spending more and more time down there and I guess getting it ready for whatever comes along.
