Defense Secretary James Mattis told the US Army it “must stand ready” and have military options “our president can deploy” in case diplomacy fails to solve the standoff with increasingly belligerent North Korea.

“There’s one thing the U.S. Army can do, and that is you have got to be ready to ensure that we have military options that our president can employ if needed,” Mattis told the Association of the US Army’s annual meeting in Washington, DC, on Monday, according to The Hill. “But that means the U.S. Army must stand ready, and so, if you’re ready, that’s your duty at this point in time. And I know the Army will always do its duty.”

Addressing Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s effort to reach out to Pyongyang and United Nations sanctions against the President Kim Jong Un’s rogue regime, Mattis said US military readiness can act as a deterren

An Army riddled with cross dressers, mommy rangers, open homosexuals? And they are expected to win on the battlefield?

He basically countermanded the President’s order to get rid of cross dressers. Would he countermand other orders to mobilize?

Having achieved the lofty rank of SP5 many years ago I'm surely no expert here. However, one would think that this would be a job mainly for the Air Force and the Navy.

Kim will get overthrown by his military in a coup by the end of this year. You heard it here first. NK's army is malnourished, ill-trained, and using 60s-era weaponry. They are not even a match for SK, who have far better trained personnel and state-of-the-art weaponry, as well as thousands in reserves who can be called up immediately.

Also like how Trump restored the MAD scenario.

But yeah. The devil inside the gates is going to create more trouble for us than we would otherwise have. It doesn’t make a victory impossible, but it does make one harder.

Gay! What a lie. It’s the devil’s wicked distorted glee. Now I firmly believe yet in “Snatch some from the fire and save them.” And Christians have been more timid about this than they could be. But I don’t think “In the Navy” (or Air Force or Marines or Army) is exactly the right place to put them before this happens.

Just as in every time of need in the past, the US Army and the rest of the military and naval forces will shed its overburden of malcontents, freeloaders, gold-diggers and otherwise trash, leaving a core of dedicate, stalwarts who will go to any length to achieve the mission.

It has always been this way, always will be, the difference today is that we actually name and label the flotsam and jetsam- and yes, they indeed and always have eaten up valuable space and resources. Maybe it will change in our day, but I don’t bet on it.

For the most part, I imagine the US Army’s role in this as exclusively defending South Korea and counterattacking any enemy batteries that fire on it. Our artillery is top notch when it comes to counter battery fire.

The real action will take place at sea. The USN will have to handle any missile launches. And it will likely have to take down the entire NorK surface and submarine fleet. They will also need to make it abundantly clear to the Chinese and the Russians that any subs they have in the area must leave ASAP or they might get caught up in the fray.

While they have some good torpedoes, our torpedoes are angels of death.

And if the NorKs dare to put any aircraft in the air, they will be scratched before they reach altitude.
