Imran Awan, the IT professional Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) kept on her congressional payroll long after it became known he was under investigation by the Capitol Police, wiped his phone hours before he was arrested last July.
On August 17, 2017 a federal grand jury indicted Awan and his wife, Hina Alvi, on four counts, including conspiracy and conspiring to obtain home equity loans for $165,000 and $120,000 from the Wright Patman Congressional Federal Credit Union and then transferring the money to Pakistan.

Wiped how? With a cloth?
couple of days old, but ‘pithy’...
And the NSA is not talking about what they have.
So the drip drip drip of info is going to go on forever and DWS is gonna’ skate. We all know how this works for the politically connected dems by now.
Throw the book at all of them Jeff Sessions... Oh, I forgot for a second that he’s not interested in criminality by elected democrats. They get a pass with their ole’ buddy Jeff.
hillary faced no consequences for “wiping” her computer files. Think this guy would? Only if he suddenly endorsed D Trump.
And at any rate doesn’t rise to the level of public interest so therefore can be thrown down the memory hole. Oh yeah and there was no intent.
Investigative opportunities
Why is the mass media so obsessed with nebulous connections between President Donald Trump and the Russians while ignoring perhaps the worst national security breach in years?
Have you heard about Abid, Imran and Jamal Awan? No? Why not? Is the mass media untrustworthy? These three Pakistani brothers were information technology (IT) specialists employed by various Democrat representatives who serve on congressional committees involving national security. After the presidential election, the Awan brothers were fired from their high-paying duties for allegedly accessing numerous congressional computers without permission and then fled the country.
Among those responsible was Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., previously the target of a huge email hack while serving as chairperson of the Democratic National Committee. Have House Democrats unwittingly aided and abetted terrorists?
While the element of surprise was lost during ill-fated raids in Yemen and Somalia in which Navy SEALs were killed, the confirmed damage from this security disgrace may not be known for years. This issue, like the attack in Benghazi, Libya, has been glossed over, isnt fake news and begs for a special investigation.
Where are other press investigations regarding the Clinton Foundation; Hillary Clinton for illegally compromising hundreds of classified documents; the ludicrous Iran deal; using government agencies as political weapons; why the Paris climate accord was terrible for America, and why tort reform isnt part of the health care debate?
Perhaps some of these questions provide the potential for real journalism and opportunities for Pulitzer Prizes for real journalists.
Robert A. Naples
About five years ago, at a Naval site in the DC area...they came to do an audit. Tons of hardware bought over a five to seven year period by their one and only IT guy. It was over a quarter-million of equipment that they could not find or locate. They could locate the purchase and delivery paperwork...never handed out and never disposed.
IT guy dragged into court...federal charges.
What you see in this Awan case is simply a repeat of that...no one doing audits and the Awans knew that weakness.
The iPhone Awan was carrying has a feature built in that allows someone to wipe it before they sell it. Investigators were nevertheless able to determine when it was wiped because the phone created a .obliterated file with a time stamp.
He must have been tipped off by someone inside the investigation........................
That alone should qualify him for the maximum sentence.
And Robert Mueller is too busy with the Russian dossier.
Or he has their phones tapped so he knows what LEO is doing !
Jeff Sessions is turning out to be worse than Eric Holder.
Why didn’t he smash his phone with a hammer like Hilliary did to a dozen or so devices?
“Congressional IT Aide Wiped His Phone Before Being Arrested”
he should have just put it in the phone booth with his hard drive so his note in the phone booth that said “attorney client privilege” cold have covered both items.
