But after the U.S. acquired California from Mexico in 1848, the Gold Rush drew a tidal wave of Anglo Americans from the U.S., who brought with them a murderous racism that worked to oppress indigenous people and render them all but invisible.

This is what they are teaching in California schools. Hate the evil Anglo Americans.

Seems as though people with some sort of self esteem disorder are the propaganda target.

What language do they speak and what country is it from?

Chief Sitting Bull and Colonel Nelson Miles

It’s a good thing the LAT published this so CA school teachers can spell “indigenous” correctly.

Had the aborigines the political unity, will, the means and the methods, they would have sailed east and attempted an even more vicious conquest then they received.

Just try to imagine what would have become of those “indigenous peoples” if Europeans had never arrived.

The LA Slimes proved a long, long time ago it is completely worthless as a source of news.

Big time.

They are even worst than the NYTimes.

And that is pretty bad.

Erasing our history, culture, and language is a full time job for today’s progressives.

Indigenous People’s Day

Make sure to celebrate with ritual human sacrifice.

I think in honor of Indigenous Peoples Day, California should revert completely to the technology level of its original inhabitants.

This would have the benefit of cutting down on the smog, not to mention the pollution that comes out of Hollywood.

Right... so "invisible" that today that their descendants now attempt to rewrite history with the intent of oppressing Anglo Americans and rendering them invisible.

When the Spaniards first entered Kalifornia they found “indigenous”(they were immigrants from Siberia)peoples who lived in grass and tree bark huts and who lived on berries, acorns, bugs, and rodents.

Which is precisely the “paradise” that “evolved” Leftist tree-huggers want everyone(except them)to exist in today.

Kalifornia is well on its way to this “paradise.”

We Aquired Calif as a result of a Treaty after a war with Mexico...I hate to tell these nimrods the Mexicans were not indigenous peoples either and the Spanish before them had turned many “indigenous” into vassals to work the fields.
I was born and raised in California at a time where they actually taught the history of the state.
BTW if those nasty Anglos had not come in roughshod the way this article says...The state would resemble Tiajuana.

Columbus Day is a federal holiday.

“Indigenous Peoples Day” is some laughable meme non-holiday that only exists in the minds of some Democratic city councilmen in the bluest areas of the United States.
