Of course slavery was horrible, but so was Aztec human sacrifice and Mongol massacres and a lot of other human actions in the past. Perhaps the energy would be better directed to getting rid of slavery where it still exists.

Not to mention that slavery has been practiced by pretty much every ancient civilization at one time or another. Some act as though southern, white Americans invented the idea.

Another point: Black Africans were enslaved and sold initially by other black Africans.

The Vikings in Canada present no target at all because they lost to the Indians; I believe they referred to them as “skraelings”. There seemed to be an infinite supply of them, and the settlements were abandoned.
