Critics of this column will quickly point out the sheer amount of destruction caused by Stephen Paddock would not have been possible had Paddock not had access to the cadre of high-powered, fast-shooting weaponry he did. They are undeniably correct. Some terrorism is beyond the scope of individual defense.
But is this a reason to trash the Second Amendment? Of course not.
Progressives have never, ever answered one simple question when it comes to the notion of gun control or gun bans, to wit: How do you keep firearms out of the hands of criminals and madmen? Whatever sick motivation Paddock had, he prepared long and thoroughly for his actions. Laws and bans would not have stopped him

Let’s redefine a prohibited person as anybody who has a violent or serious felony where they harmed others and when found with a gun, send them away for at least 5 years.
Have some other program for those adjudicated mentally defective.
I’m not worried Martha Stewart is going to come gunning for me.

No crime has ever been stopped by gun control.
If the basic premis of the would be gun grabbers is they want to make it impossible for someone to commit murder on such a scale....well then, they’ve got their work cut out for them. First, they will have to prove, not hope, that murderers willing to break dozens of other laws will obey theirs. Also prove that while you can get virtually any banned item here, a mass murderer wouldn’t be able to get illegal firearms. But then, if they really are serious about preventing mass murder, not just looking for an excuse to disarm us... They’ll have to end private pilots licenses, end general aviation. No more truck rentals, bye bye uhaul and Ryder. No more recreational use of any body of water used as a drinking supply. ... and a whole host of other things too. Even then, some creative whack job will still find a way to kill wholesale - if it isn’t our own government doing it to us at that point...
Kill them or lock them away forever as soon as they expose their penchant for criminality or madness.

Simple. Declare every man, woman and child to be insane until proven sane by a medical board of examiners.
Problem is who will certify the examiners to be sane. And who will certify those who examine the examiners.
Who will watch the watchers!
My theory on gun control advocates is that there are two types.
1. Bleeding heart types that have been traumatized by propaganda all their lives (TV, movies, news stories) and don’t know any better.
2. Evil nefarians who want to disarm certain subsets of the population for genocide.
What did Paddock, Lanza and Holmes have in common that predated their psychopathy? Find the answer to that, and you might have the answer.
