Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) suggested during a hearing yesterday that a deal to give amnesty to roughly 800,000 illegal aliens shielded by an Obama-created program could be reached if it includes more border security and mandatory E-Verify.
Grassley, considered an ally to President Trumps populist, economic nationalist, America First agenda, said during the Senate hearing that any deal to give amnesty and a pathway to U.S. citzenship to the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program must include more security at the U.S.-Mexico border.
First and foremost, any potential DACA agreement has to include robust border security, Grassley said. And by that, I dont mean a wall. Of course tactical infrastructure like fencing is a part of the answer, but border security is more than that. He went on to say:
Border security is a kind of all of the above approach, including fencing, technology, funding for more law enforcement personnel and equipment, changes to substantive laws so the Catch and Release and other misguided policies are ended and we need to require that the administration finally complete the bio-metric entry and exit system that Congress has continually demanded and allocated money for over the last 15 years.
Additionally, Grassley seemed to be accepting of an amnesty for illegal aliens, should mandatory E-Verify the tech program which mandates that employers hire legal immigrants and American citizens be a part of the deal.
Second and equally as important for robust border security, weve got to make sure that any deal includes meaningful interior enforcement, Grassley said. The simplest, most common sense, may be to ensure that we eliminate the root causes of undocumented immigration to make it, the E-Verify system mandatory for all employers.

1. Secure the border in a transparently verifiable way;
2. End the anchor-baby interpretation of the 14th Amendment;
3. Enforce E-verify without exception and with severe penalties;
4. End chain migration. Entry per individual qualifications, not family ties.
5. Deportation upon contact with any law enforcement agency · federal, state or local;
6. No government benefits beyond critical emergency care (and that ought to be billed back to the home government);
7. NO "Path to citizenship" EVER for anyone who has entered the us illegally.
Oops. Looks like you're already trading away item 7.
Ending birth right citizenship, Raise Act cutting immigration in half and ending chain migration, and making it illegal for States to give welfare of any kind to illegal immigrants has to be part of any Deal. Otherwise the incentives and drivers for illegal immigration will continue
Grassley is an ancient old turd who is way past his “sell by” date. Only that old cur Dianne FineSwine is older than this guy, and he’s been in the Senate for 37 years. Only Urine Hatch and Patrick “depends” Leahy have been there longer!
It won’t be hundreds of thousands, it will be millions.
The parameters are already being broadened beyond the Kenyanesian Usurper’s original illegal DACA.
800,000 will be 3 million, minimum and then they will be back to get amnesty for the human trafficking parents who brought them here illegally.
We’ve been down the “I’ll give you border security someday for an amnesty today” road before. We’re still waiting for the promises made in 1986.
Remove ALL illegal aliens.
The best way to ensure DACA fails is to demand a “clean” DACA with no sweeteners.
If a deal has to be made to allow those who haven't voted, or commit any crimes to stay, I can live with that AFTER WE HAVE 500 MILES OF WALL.
Trade absolutely NOTHING for border security. Without border security there isn’t a country.
Border Security is about the highest priority function in which the federal government is involved.
No amnesty was a promise.
And if we have a liberal government after the next election and it decides to tear down the wall, open the borders and grant everyone the right to vote, we get to send all of the DACA people back, right?
I thought Grassley was smarter than that.
This is our country. We do not have to make a deal. We decide what we want in immigration laws and do it.
Like it, get used to it, or leave.
No.
N O C O M P R O M I S E
To prove you do care, you must deport the DACA American-Dream-Stealers and put American children first.
Old McConnell had a cuck
E I E I Owe
You forgot one...
Make it illegal for those here illegally to open business banking checking accounts.
No deal. Never trade something permanent like citizenship for something like E-Verify or “enhanced border enforcement” that can disappear when the next Marxist is in the White House.
Screw Grassley.
Another Chamber of Amnesty whore.
Primary his sorry butt.
Remember all the compromises the Democrats offered us under Obama?
Mexico is receiving a record amount of money from the US, sent `home’ by Mexican citizens this year.
Time to start tapping that dinero. I’m thinking about 20% sounds about right.
Pretty sure this was tried in the 80s and we got screwed.
