Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock has been described as a brilliant man who had an intimate knowledge of the second amendment and a room dedicated to his guns, according to a friend.
The Australian man, who wanted to remain anonymous, had multiple encounters with Paddock between 2013 and 2015 after he started dating his girlfriend's sister.

As investigators reconstruct the life and recent activities of Paddock in a bid to work out a motive, details keep emerging that suggest the gunman's mental health had deteriorated on the months prior to the massacre.
Paddock had reportedly experienced significant weight loss in the lead up to the shooting. He also developed an obsession with his girlfriend's ex-husband, Geary Danley, with whom she had been married to for more than 20 years before they finalized their divorce in 2015.

Both Paddock and Danley disappeared from the home within a couple of weeks in August, Page said.
'I remember at the start of August looking out of my window and seeing Stephen pull up in a brand new huge silver minivan,' she explained.
'But just a few days later he left the house in it and was never seen again.'
She continued: 'I thought the whole situation was even weirder when two weeks later I then look out of my window again to see Marilou stuffing her car full of all her belongings.
'Over the course of three or four days it was like she was moving her entire life out of the house. She packed so much stuff not only was her car full, but it was also tied to the top of her car.
'After a few days of packing she too pulled out of the driveway and was never seen again.

I’ve seen pics of her with makeup on standing next to Steve Paddock. Such random comments from this guy, like when he talked about his brother liked eating burritos.

I saw a reference in a story somewhere that Geary Danley has refused all interview request.
It doesn't take a genius figure out what the 2nd Amendment means.
Actually I don’t blame him. Within a few hours he was misidentified as the shooter. If they haven’t already the FBI will land on his doorstep.
He wasn't "in shock", as many commentators said while trying to explain his insane behavior during that interview. Someone in shock shuts down, mentally and physically. This guy was a manic nutcase.
Crazy runs in family trees. It would be interesting to go and interview his neighbors.

I’m also weary of hearing everyone described as brilliant or a genius. I suppose that compared to a journalist everyone is, but still it’s tiresome.
(IMO anyone who gets a neck tattoo is automatically disqualified from the “brilliant” category.)

Paddock booked one room for August 1, 2017, 2 days before the August 3 kickoff. Paddock then booked a second room for an August 3 arrival. Both rooms had an August 6 checkout .. that's when Lollapalooza ended.The hotel directly overlooked the main stage as well as several adjoining stages. It also overlooks the main entrance and exit where thousands of people file through. And the hotel had a bird's-eye view of the crowd.

I’d say eccentric or weird is more like it, but not “nuts” in the classic sense.
Then again there are a lot of weird types out in the south west and in the west in general. A lot of loners who live a nomadic lifestyle. Must be the heat.

Maybe it does, there certainly are a lot of people, including federal judges, who can’t seem to crack the code. That, “shall not be infringed” just seems to be too much for them.
This whole incident is about one thing and one thing only:
To abridge the Right To Keep And Bear Arms.
That’s what this guy’s “motive” was whether he thought it up himself or whether he was inspired and/or led by others.
The “conversation” on Mass Media today will be awash with ignorance, Orwellian demagoguery, and self-righteousness.
If you haven’t purchased an semi-auto rifle or pistol by now you are late. Very, very late.
