The shooter was a pilot. He could have loaded a plane with who knows what, dove into the heart of the crowd and killed a lot more than 59.
We should ban pilot’s licenses for people with no criminal record and no history of crime or mental problems. That way we’ll all be safer.
Safety first. Freedom is way over rated.
The stock answer to any of those questions should be “tell me, how many laws did the perp break? What additional law do you recommend we make that s/he can break as well?”

IF semi-automatic weapons (or automatic weapons for that matter) had existed in the mid-eighteenth century, then militias would have been so-equipped.
The purpose of the Second Amendment is centered on two ideas: "free State" and "the people."
A third intent is of critical importance: the right "shall not be infringed."
It is our responsibility to defend the free State and to allow no further infringement of out natural rights.

The Constitution belongs to the law abiding, it is written for them to serve them, it will not be written by murderers.
The innocent will not be punished for the sins of the guilty. This is a real struggle. These psychopathic events are few but get huge media coverage. What doesn’t get coverage is the everyday slaughter in the ghetto, which has gun laws that no one enforces.
So this is a pure attempt to destroy the Second Amendment for the rest of us.
