Denver Broncos Players: No More Kneeling For Us
TMZ.com ^

Posted on 09/28/2017 12:12:54 PM PDT by TigerClaws

The Denver Broncos players say the days of kneeling for the national anthem are over -- and beginning Sunday, they will all STAND together.

The players issued a statement moments ago ... acknowledging the split this past Sunday when several players took a knee and others stood for the anthem before playing the Bills.

"Last week, members of our team joined their brothers around the NFL in a powerful display of unity ... As controversial as it appeared, we needed to show our collective strength and resolve."

But now, the players say they will be united in standing together moving forward.

"We may have different values and beliefs, but there's one thing we can all agree on: We're a team and we stand together -- no matter how divisive some comments and issues can be, nothing should ever get in the way of that."

"Starting Sunday, we'll be standing together."

Full statement:

quote:
“Last week, members of our team joined their brothers around the NFL in a powerful display of unity.

“It was an emotional time for everyone, including the fans who support us each and every week. As controversial as it appeared, we needed to show our collective strength and resolve.

“Our voices needed to be heard loud and clear.

“Make no mistake — our actions were in no way a protest of the military, the flag or those who keep us safe. We have nothing but the deepest love and respect for those who protect our way of life and the freedoms we enjoy as Americans.

“While there’s no greater country, it’s not perfect. Inequalities still exist, and we have work to do in ALL forms of social justice. We can all do better.

“It starts with us. We need to do our part and use our platform as NFL players to continue driving that positive change.

“Our locker room is one diverse place, and that’s what makes it so special. It’s where thoughtful, intelligent leaders from all different races, religions and backgrounds come together.

“We may have different values and beliefs, but there’s one thing we all agree on:

“We’re a team and we stand together — no matter how divisive some comments and issues can be, nothing should ever get in the way of that.

“Starting Sunday, we’ll be standing together.”

Jones said the Cowboys would be standing ... and they kneeled and stood arm in arm in unity with the anarchists and communists.

Hands over hearts and nothing else assho_es.

Locking arms will be just as offensive.

Don’t do it.

I’m not a racist. Police are not the major killers of Blacks. Blacks are.

Stand, apologize, and salute that flag.

So far, I don’t think that’s what’s going to happen on Sunday.

Yeah! The jerseys being burned, the team being booed during the anthem, the loss of advertising support, the empty stadium seats, the backlog of unsold tickets, etc. made them decide to look like they will be honoring the anthem and the flag.

I, for one, am not fooled. They are going to have to do more than issue a few, half-hearted mea culpa's to rectify this.

This has caused the NFL and others to be scrutinized from top to bottom.

Especially how the rich, owners receive massive tax-breaks and how they got their stadiums financed and built with tax-payer dollars.

We’re a team and we stand together — no matter how divisive some comments and issues can be, nothing should ever get in the way of that.

We're a nation and we stand together - no matter how divisive some comments and issues can be, nothing should never get in the way of that. And last weekend it did, and it wasn't the fans' fault and it wasn't the President's fault, it was the players', coaches', and owners' fault.
