JACKSON, Miss.
The Jackson chapter of the NAACP plans to ask local high school and college football players to take a knee at their next game, leaders said Tuesday.
President Donald Trump on Sunday called for fans to boycott NFL games unless the league takes action against players who choose to kneel during the national anthem. Advertisement
Following a weekend of kneeling and protesting across the NFL, the Cowboys and their owner displayed their own version of unity Monday night by kneeling on the field before rising as a group before the playing of the national anthem.
Jackson State University head football coach Tony Hughes, who is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, said he has spoken to his team about the controversy.
I shared something with my team in the midst of all this, Hughes said. What the true colors of the flag actually mean. Red is the blood that we shed, blue is the boldness and the white is the purity of our country and the integrity of our country that stands for equality and giving people access to be successful in life. Growing up as an African-American in rural Mississippi, I take a lot of pride in the United States of America giving me an opportunity to do what I love to do and coach a sport thats so competitive.
In an interview Monday with 16 WAPT News, Pearl High School head football coach John Perry said the issue of standing or kneeling during the national anthem has not come up yet with his players.
I dont know. You would hate to have to cross that bridge, but we would hope that all of our kids would stand up and honor those that have fought for this country and the freedoms that we have. If they want to make a statement in other ways, then that is on them, Perry said.
A news conference is scheduled for Thursday, at which time local and state NAACP leaders are expected to ask local football players to kneel during games.
YOU WILL BE MADE TO CARE.

And the beatings will continue until morale improves.
And when the blacks kill the rest of the white Rhodesian farmers, the expatriates, many of them morbidly obese, can slim down and show some ribs.
Black Lives Matters went from hands up don’t shoot to the knee
I did not approve of the Ctrl-Left trying to kill football over injuries. It’s my place as a parent to decide if the risk is acceptable. However, if football commits suicide, I will not interfere. I will never again watch any team that permits a flag/anthem protest without severe consequences.
Being black and stupid isn’t enough for these scum bags?
They want to be black, stupid and unpatriotic.
The local NAACP president needs a knee to the groin.
No outside person tells my kid what to do.
FOX said the other day that little 8 year old players were taking a knee. Those kids haven’t a clue so that comes from their parents.
This could be quickly stopped at the intramural high school level by recognizing such kneeling as forfeiting the game.
Put out the rule as an immediate notice to all sports coaches with the simple rule.
One team kneels, that team loses. Both teams kneel, game is recorded as a loss for both. Rules still apply for semi-finals and playoffs.
You kneel also means you personally no longer qualify for sports scholarships.
NAACP, take a hike.
NFL....it’s a black thing.
RIP
Missou is what happens to programs who go down this road.
The NFL has turned hard left, will other colleges do this?
I don’t know if you know anything about Jackson but it has been absolutely overrun with Marxist Black Radicals.
You mean just because the Marxist mayor has vowed to make Jackson the “most radical city in the world”?
Obama’s brown shirts, “transforming America”. The divide widens.
Perfect...
There is no other solution that will satisfy most.
So much for the end of Hope...
I say, If they take a knee, giveem the FINGER!!”
