JACKSON, Miss.
The Jackson chapter of the NAACP plans to ask local high school and college football players to take a knee at their next game, leaders said Tuesday.
President Donald Trump on Sunday called for fans to boycott NFL games unless the league takes action against players who choose to kneel during the national anthem. Advertisement
Following a weekend of kneeling and protesting across the NFL, the Cowboys and their owner displayed their own version of unity Monday night by kneeling on the field before rising as a group before the playing of the national anthem.
Jackson State University head football coach Tony Hughes, who is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, said he has spoken to his team about the controversy.
I shared something with my team in the midst of all this, Hughes said. What the true colors of the flag actually mean. Red is the blood that we shed, blue is the boldness and the white is the purity of our country and the integrity of our country that stands for equality and giving people access to be successful in life. Growing up as an African-American in rural Mississippi, I take a lot of pride in the United States of America giving me an opportunity to do what I love to do and coach a sport thats so competitive.
In an interview Monday with 16 WAPT News, Pearl High School head football coach John Perry said the issue of standing or kneeling during the national anthem has not come up yet with his players.
I dont know. You would hate to have to cross that bridge, but we would hope that all of our kids would stand up and honor those that have fought for this country and the freedoms that we have. If they want to make a statement in other ways, then that is on them, Perry said.
A news conference is scheduled for Thursday, at which time local and state NAACP leaders are expected to ask local football players to kneel during games.
Well, alrighty then. Have at it.
What was all of that about it not being about race?
Hands up don’t shoot....it doesn’t matter if its stupid and divisive and based on misinformation, if we all do it together it makes us unified and better than everyone else... /s
The Shark has been jumped.
Hey kids, if the NFL players jumped over a cliff, would you mindlessly copy that too? Oh wait, they are jumping over a cliff, economically speaking.
I didn’t know that Mississippi named a town after Jesse...who knew?
Pick a dark skinned majority country and move there to find your utopia.
YOU WILL BE MADE TO CARE.
National Association for the Advancement of Communist People. Democrat front organization.
At least we now know who is REALLY behind these protests.
Don’t do it, kids. Don’t buy the lie.
Who is the coach here?
Jeeez - when I was in school the coach would have made it clear, in no uncertain terms what he expected of us, his team.
And this guy "hopes" those who look to him for guidance make the right decision?
NAACP was started about 1920 by Edward Bernaise, the author of the book “Propaganda” as a tool for the oligarchs to shape public opinion and control the black population. Nothing has changed.
Bernaise’s double uncle was Sigmund Freud (sic).
I believe the Lefties are at the end of their collective rope. Everything they are now doing is sheer desperation, and they are alienating ever more people by the minute.
Look how easy people will take the Devils mark.
This is a test.
Our kid plays high school ball. He said his coach, retired Army and local cop, told them just before the first game that if “any one of you pulls some sh*t like that you’re off the team before that anthem is over..”
Every one of them still stands straight along the sideline with their helmet under the right arm, just as they’ve done for the last three years.
“...Pick a dark skinned majority country and move there to find your utopia....”
Exactly. Simple solution. I would suggest maybe Zimbabwe for starters.
There, they’d be a majority and Supreme. They’d be happy and we’d be happy.
Just get out of ours...and stay to hell out.
