I believe they are advancing on destroying America from statues to our anthem. As Newt said - next they will just stop playing the anthem at all at games.

This is an avalanche of backlash. Never thought I’d see it but here it is plain as day. How could the Steelers make such an out of touch silly stupid decision as to cower in the locker room during the anthem?
Surely somebody could’ve spoken up and brought up the fact that we’re a blue collar team with blue collar fans and that this will absolutely backfire. Are the players so out of touch? Do they have that much contempt for the average fan?
An owner with balls would’ve marched them right back onto the field.
I ache for the post WWII/Korea days when being patriotic was the in-thing....

Steelers’ Alejandro Villanueva ‘Embarrassed’ by Lone-Wolf Act - “Every single time I see that picture of me standing by myself, I feel embarrassed,” he said.
You can burn his Jersey along with the rest of them.
With all due respect, P-Marlowe, he must have been under incredible pressure to toe the party line.
Which is so sad. I still think sales of his jersey will be hit Christmas gifts.
No kidding! People pay a lot of money to lose themselves in some fun, away from work, politics, marital problems...the list goes on.
They don't pay top dollar to be lectured to by a bunch of spoiled millionaires, who are, of course, athletically talented. But that is all people want...to see that talent on display, while enjoying some nachos or a hot dog and a beer or a soda pop.
Could not agree more with you, Daffy. When my children were young, they played baseball and we arranged a family/team trip to see the Ottawa Lynx.
We had tons of fun; the players were awesome, and they had those huge bouncy castles! It was great, at a fraction of the price. We had the same experience watching a rookie hockey game.
It is fun, much cheaper, and just a great time for the whole family. :)
Jeff Bagwell was in my firstborn's high school graduation class [Xavier HS]. From the start, he was pretty aloof. Also, excelled in soccer.
Frank Thomas played against the New Britain Red Sox [minors] and we caught that game. He was especially great to the kids.

Mainly, if we went to a pro game, it would cost the 5 of us, more than $300. [and that was in the 70s] By the time you paid for decent tickets, tolls, parking, snacks, kids buying junk/souvenirs and whatnot ...it was obscene; and don't forget fighting the traffic.
Beehive Field wasn't as glitzy as the bigs, but great fun, nevertheless. Was so reasonable, we could afford to go often.
That is every individual's freedom of choice. The vast majority of players didn't kneel. Some teams didn't have a single player kneel for the anthem.
So please don't flippantly attack the patriotism of others on this site who don't happen to adopt the exact same stance as you, with the exact same fervor or responses. That's a little excessive.
Having said that, I'm a lifelong Miami Dolphins fan who is now totally disgusted with the team, and I will be participating in the growing #NFLBurnNotice protest.
I am in the process of locating all my modern Dolphins gear, so that it can be burned in a prominent and public manner, consistent with my overwhelming anger at the current team ownership, staff, and several despicable current players.
The failure of the Dolphins franchise in this debacle is a collective one, with plenty of blame to spread around. The cowardice that is being shown—and the utter disrespect being shown towards the paying customers, the FANS—is absolutely breathtaking.
In honor of historical Miami Dolphins history, teams, players, and personnel—such as original owner Joe Robbie, Hall of Fame Head Coach Don Shula, the Perfect Season Team, and many other individuals—I will be preserving my vintage memorabilia, as it doesn't deserve to suffer the fate which awaits the gear associated with the modern team.
Until this issue is resolved positively in favor of the fans and the country, I will be watching no NFL games, and I will also actively avoid patronizing any of the NFL's advertisers and sponsors.

The NFL is playing with fire, MLB knows it - and will not follow the NFL into trouble it does not need.
