On Tuesday, President Trump addressed the United Nations and, shocking to no one savelLeft-of-center news agencies, he expressed his strong belief in his own economic policies; in Americaits people, way of life, and the Constitution which governs it; and in business enterprise as a path to freedom and prosperity. Trumps speech, optimistic and pro-American as it was, falls in the mainstream of American presidential tradition. Indeed, it is the stuff of a Truman or a Reagan.
But youd never know it from how it was reported.
The Guardian called it a blunt, fearful rant.
That is a more apt description for The Guardian itself. (Trust me, I know. Ive been trashed by them no less than twice for a claim I never made and they never bothered to verify.)
Salon said Trump careened wildly from some warped form of principled realism to threats of mass annihilation and back again.
Perhaps Salon, careening wildly from one Trump attack-piece to another, is unaware of the fact that America has been threatened with mass annihilation by a declared enemy with an increasing capability to do it. Someone should tell them.

Socialism is just National Communism.
And not only that, but that enemy received both technology and funding with which to develop its very powerful weapons of mass destruction from the husband of a recent presidential candidate. Perhaps Salon, with its wild careening around, wants to divert attention from the numerous violations of national security committed by that candidate and her husband ever since they entered the national scene.
Socialism does work.
The whole goal of Socialism is to destroy the middle class.
Socialism does this very well.
The irony is that the most ardent Socialists ARE middle class.
The more I read about Harry, the more I like him. He’d never get nominated by his party today.
If you think about it *this* country's socialists are Trust Fund Class.
There's a difference.
The media is riddled with True Believers in socialism/communism.
President Trump’s blunt description of the utter failure of Socialism/Communism was a slap in the face to them so, of course, they try to cover their embarrassment with nonsensical ‘reporting’ based on the false premise that Trump was not sophisticated enough to appreciate statism.
Just like Socialism/Communism, they failed.
It’s been said socialism is communism without the guns.
Socialism works great if you
are in the ruling class.
Well our middle class is destroyed.
Of course that acknowledgment only came *very* recently and *very* reluctantly.
I should have put up the sarcasm tag. :-)
Socialism is just Communism without a cool flag
Depression relates pretty well with lack of vitamin D i.e. sunshine. Those countries don't get much of that. What they do get is at an ineffective angle but for a week or two at midsummer. Scandinavians have "winter blues" all year.
People who write for and read Salon pretty much think that destroying America would be a good thing. Liberals are quite capable of thinking they would live in a better world if the cities they live in were to be vaporized.
And the proponents of both should be shot on sight!
