As part of a wave of protests throughout the NFL in the wake of President Donald Trump's NFL-related comments, the Steelers will not be on the field for the playing of the national anthem before their game against the Bears on Sunday.
Coach Mike Tomlin told CBS his team would remain in the locker room for the playing of the Star-Spangled Banner.

Maybe, maybe not. It lowers the temperature on the controversy. More importantly though is it denies players the opportunity to make their statement -whatever that is- on live TV.
Then let them come out of the locker room to an empty stadium!
Yeah, chickensh!ts doing it at an away game - let them try it at a home game & see what their fans say.
The Military should significantly increase its presence at the games perhaps with flyovers to remind the ignorant ones what this is really about
Policy changed in 2009. Teams are to be on the field for the anthem.

FOX saying that they back this show of unity by the players because they are standing up for free speech is the biggest cop out of all time. This originated with A GUY kneeling and say he was kneeling because he could not support a country that “kept his people down”. His gf called the cops and country racist.
This is what the NFL is supporting.

LOL! I probably shouldn’t share this, but once, my husband was constipated so bad he had to stay home from work because he was in pain. He took some laxatives which finally worked and called me and said, “It’s a boy!” LOL!
If so then apparently NFL rules are merely....suggestions. Players and teams can do whatever whims might amuse them each game day. Gansta symbols on helmets...etc. Maybe gangs will sponsor some players and they can make up lost revenue that way (like stadium naming rights)?
It would be great if there were maybe only 5 people in the stands.

I just watched Terry Bradshaw and the gang, and except for Jimmy Johnson, they all came out foursquare against Trump, condemning the “divisiveness” of his rhetoric, while ignoring the disrespect and venom of the players.
They all mouthed about the freedom of self-expression in the United States. The players in the NFL can use freedom of expression to slur and slander and divide the entire nation, and we are free to express ourselves in return. It is our Constitutional right also.
Most of us do not care to be lectured on the fine points of morality by people who would appear as thugs when passed by on the street.
Will the Pitt fans stand for the Anthem then leave the game before it starts? We shall see how much the country has fallen or not.
