“No,” says General Lito Sobejana in his native language Tagalog. “You cannot pay the ransom.”
I listen to him as he speaks patiently on the phone with the desperate wife of a man kidnaped by Islamic extremists. He translates the conversation when he hangs up the phone.
“She wants to try to raise ransom money,” he tells me. “They told her they would cut off his head today if she didn’t pay. But we have a strict ‘no ransom’ policy.”
The day before my meeting with the general, his men attempted a rescue and there was a fatal firefight. Six of the terrorists were killed. One of the general’s men was shot but survived.
We’re in the Mindanao region of the southern Philippines, which is home to more than 21 million people and is considered the nation’s “food basket.” It’s been under martial law since spring. We travel with heavily armed guards day and night.
These days, the locals can’t freely move about to fish and farm without fear of being snatched off the street by Muslim terrorist thugs who raise money from the kidnappings. More than a dozen victims are currently being held. Four were captured right before my visit.

“It was — before the loyalty oaths. The loyalty oaths were rejected in the Sharia zones, but they worked well enough in the military. Almost all of the Muslims in the French Army were thrown out. The ones who didn’t desert and run into the Sharia zones were put behind razor wire as a risk to French society. It surprised everybody how fast the French could build concentration camps when they put their minds to it. This led to even more car bombs and rocket attacks, until the French used heavy artillery on the no-go zones. Leveled them. Parts of Paris and the other French cities look like Stalingrad now, but at least they’re one hundred percent French again. Well, in the north, anyway.”
I said, “There must have been a lot of civilian casualties. When push comes to shove, Muslims always use their women and children as human shields.”
“They did — they always do — but this time it didn’t work. Not when the French were in a fight for their national survival. It doesn’t work at all anymore, actually, their hiding behind human shields. The problem with that strategy is that sooner or later somebody calls your bluff, and that’s exactly what the French military did. And being concentrated in Muslim enclaves, in their no-go Sharia zones, well, that vastly simplified matters when it came time to take care of business and end the mess once and for all.”

I just read the excerpt. That’s REALLY good. Your scenario is the best we can hope for, but I’m not sure the French will ever wake up. From everything I’ve heard its too late anyway, but you’d know better than I.
If military doctrine of the Allies of WWII were used today,they would be charged with “war crimes”. We would be fighting Nazis into the 50’s and any invasion of Japan would be a bloodbath. This is why for the most part,the Islamists are winning. Our enemies always learn and adapt and we are always steps behind.

Imagine if SS divisions had tried hiding in the middle of a city to avoid being targeted for bombing raids.
Imagine if we refused to bomb them, due to the fear of collateral damage.
We would have lost WW2.
If the coward hiding behind a skirt or a child doesn’t care about the human shield, why should we? It’s not as though the coward can claim any high ground.
Because "we" are supposed to be better than that coward...

Easy to say, very expensive and still controvercial to do.
I was in FOB Shank when comes stringing in from the Jordanian/Afghan side a pimp with 5 little prostituted kids 5 years and up into the American sector. I wanted to shoot him but that was against the regs of “coalition” togetherness and civilization.
You see, this is how they proceed. Like abortion, someone must then adopt or or punish the pimp and the btch, go after the networks and the languages in the law protecting them. etc.
At one point they put a few grenades in the kid’s belly and you shoot back “like a coward”.
