Ditto me. It seems I’ve always lived in earthquake zones and for some reason, they don’t scare me nearly as bad as the times I lived in tornado belts or hurricane zones. “The devil you know,” and all that!

That's "correct," politically speaking. Our left-leaning authorities, educated in today's universities, look down their noses to reassure us that there has been no increase in the frequency of earthquakes. They remind us that any earthquakes we mention are only "aftershocks" and don't count.

At the same time, they remind us that the increasing numbers of earthquakes are caused by mankind's activities perpetrated in a conspiracy against their Germanic deities: trees and beasts.

Once in a while, though, they get hysterical enough to blurt out a little truth, even in the land of lefty central,...

Quakes are increasing, but scientists aren't sure what it means
http://www.latimes.com/local/la-me-la-quakes-20140603-story.html

...before smothering it with more lies.

See how that works? Do you know why they lie? They are afraid of a realization that would condemn them and scare them into trying to be good for a moment. You and I know what that realization will inevitably be.

They also have narratives to explain away and blame mankind for increasing geological venting causing warming fluctuations (see weak spots in deviating magnetic field, ozone depletion, increasing outer core activity).

Cute and clever, aren't they. They know how to make web pages, talk, carry signs and complain about mean, old men.

>>Seems the earth is moving in many places around the world.

Or maybe just seems we got better at detecting / reporting / exploiting the movement that’s been going on... like, forever.

Lessons from the barn I converted to my home:

Nothing is level, square, plumb or in anyway perfect. Same can be said for planet earth and all who live on it. It’s learning to love imperfection that makes life livable.

Why has the question of increasing earthquakes become a left-right political controversy?

Just a stab here, but maybe because increase in earthquakes is in the Bible?

We are just a few days after the new moon. Actually the original quake was even closer to the new moon. While the full moon can also cause tidal stress, the new moon is even stronger because both the moon and the sun are pulling on the same side with gravitation. As the earthquake was not enought, volcano Popocatepetl erupted the same day killing 15, as you can see at the other link below.

I decided to take another look at the phases of the moon link. The big 8.1 magnitude quake happened on Sept. 8 with was 2 days after the full moon.

Yes, and imagine the great one the Bible talks about, greater than any ever felt. But I believe that comes after the Tribulation.

Near or at the end of the Tribulation, before God “shortens the days” lest no one be left alive, if I’ve got that right.

There is a school of thought among serious geologists and meteorologists to the effect that major hurricanes may precipitate earthquakes. The sudden movement of billions of tons of water onto the edge of a plate is hypothesized to increase the risk of a slippage at the next fault line. It would be hard to prove definitively that Harvey set the plates to moving, but it would also explain the one-off character of the major quake.

would that apply to hurricanes in the atlantic and quakes off the pacific coast? or were the mexico quakes related to the atlantic plates?
