President Trump gave an endorsement to the establishment-backed Sen. Luther Strange for the Alabama Senate primary Friday night but later admitted that if opponent Judge Roy Moore wins the runoff, he will campaign for Moore.
Trump praised Strange as a “real fighter and a real good guy” in remarks to the audience in Huntsville, Alabama. He also responded to criticism that Strange is backed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) by calling him a “tough cookie” who “doesn’t deal and kowtow to anyone.”
However, while Trump gave effusive praise to Strange, he acknowledged that his chosen guy was behind in the race, and claimed he had been given a “bum rap” due to him already being in the Senate. A poll released Thursday showed Moore eight points ahead of Strange with just days to go until the runoff.
Trump then appeared to hedge his bets and said that he would back Moore if he beat Strange on Tuesday.
“By the way, both good men and you know what, I told Luthe … if his opponent wins I’m going to be here campaigning like hell for him,” he said to applause from the crowd.

Realpolitik. He can say to the GOPe he endorsed Strange, but he was a bad candidate, so he lost. Gee, GOPe, why do you keep backing losers and not good conservatives like Moore that want to Make America Great Again?
By “endorsing” Strange, he wins either way.
I am very eager to see Moore win and watch the GOPe writhe in pain next primary season.

He doesn’t need to give implied directions. He just needs to point out targets to crush, and supporters to elect.
The quislings like Ryan, McConnell, McCain and Priebus should be examples enough to quit mentioning them in any positive way. Simply ENDORSE MOORE and CRUSH Strange, organ grinder McConnell’s pet monkey!
Trump is supporting Strange, knowing that Moore will win. He is gaming the GOPe, or trying to.

It does not matter who wins Alabama senator seat so long as it is a republican. Trump understands that, and that is one of the reasons he is the best president I have seen in my lifetime of 70+ years.
I am certain he will never grant illegals blanket amnesty, he will strengthen border security, reduce LEGAL immigration of unskilled & wealth-poor immigrants, improve military preparedness and cost effectiveness, reduce the stranglehold EPA has on American business, and best of all, work on reducing foreign trade deficits which no president in my lifetime has done.
If one looks at historic Christian practice, one sees that it has elements of both of what we secularly call right and left.
What is Moore going to do with the side of Christian faith that says that pure “religion” (in this context, manifestation of faith, not mere ritual) is visiting orphans and widows in their distress?
The difference between this and the secular view is that the visiting takes place in the power of God by people carrying the power of God. The secular world tries to imitate this in its own power but fails, having disinvited God’s love.
For this reason I am less inclined to be harsh towards the left that most others on FR are. I see it as a matter of what fuel the engine needs to be running on. Try to run a gas engine on kerosene and it will sputter miserably and run weakly if it runs at all. Run it on gas and you get smooth operation and power. Same with the benevolent intents of the left. They can only run properly on God.
The real chess is played by God. Trump cooperates fairly well.
One of the moves that must happen is that we have to have a private view of God that goes beyond opposing murder, chaos, senseless violence, and the like. That would be a God that gave you unlimited room to act however snottily you wished so long as you never pushed it to such dramatic overt actions.
We must have a view of God that robustly supports love. Which is a matter that never comes into secular courtrooms but comes into everyday life every second of the day. Is Moore willing to progress from where he is to closer to where God is?

and watching Big Luther on F&F just now, he did himself no favors at all by his comments. One of the worst was referring to the former staff who are supporting Moore as the White House unemployment line. All will not be amused, especially Ben Carson who is still there.
I do believe Trump is moved by the Lord, who has a vision that sees from the very foundation of the world to its end — the Alpha and Omega.
Maybe the Lord has a sea change in Moore’s perspective planned. A courtroom is usually where you go if things have gone wrong legally. But where do you go if you want things to go right by grace? If Moore continues to see things as through the eyes of a courtroom judge he is going to miss a lot. But perhaps he won’t, and I should be among the first to cheer if he shows signs of letting God expand his view.
The prez likes souls for sale. Strange is a straight up corruptocrat like Pelosi n shumer.. and trump just gave them a blank check on the debt.
If Moore loses, so does freedom and some of us won’t forget trump went for the corruptocrat instead of everyday America.
This is the real liberal ny pol finally showing us that winning is better than limited government and freedom.
It was a mild concession to McConnell, probably.
