Jimmy Kimmel’s medical malpractice
NY Post ^ | September 22, 2017 | David Harsanyi

Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel has taken to scaremongering, with well-worn Democratic Party talking points regarding health-insurance policy. Between yuks, he occasionally accuses Republicans of being would-be baby killers, which is treated as an important political development because, well, Jimmy Kimmel is famous.

This week, the comedian was back to explain why the new Graham-Cassidy Republican “repeal” bill is bad news. There were only two things wrong: Almost everything he said was either completely untrue or highly misleading, and his simplistic emotional appeal was completely disconnected from the real world.

The comedian’s interest in policy was sparked by the harrowing experience of having a newborn son who suffered from a rare health condition. Thankfully, his boy is OK.

“If your baby is going to die and it doesn’t have to, it shouldn’t matter how much money you make,” said an emotional Kimmel in May. “I think that’s something that, whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat or something else, we all agree on that, right?”

Yes, everyone agrees. As far as I know, there isn’t a single politician in America who has ever supported allowing babies to die because they are born with birth defects, even if the parents can’t pay. Not pre-ObamaCare, and not post-ObamaCare.

In any event, after Kimmel’s May rant, Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy showed up on his show to explain his position. These types of culture encounters shouldn’t be dismissed, because the fact is most viewers are unaware of specific policies and have a notional understanding that’s prejudiced by the establishment media’s coverage.

Cassidy came up with something he called the “Jimmy Kimmel Test”: No “family should be denied medical care, emergency or otherwise, because they can’t afford it.”

Kimmel claims the new bill doesn’t meet this threshold.

Jimmy Kimmel is nothing more than Chuck Schumer's parrot.

In your mind, try to imagine Johnny Carson, Don Rickles, Steve Allen, Merv Griffin or Jack Parr injecting themselves into an issue like this.

Doesn’t matter, Lt. Dain Bramage from Arizona killed it off.

Isn’t Kimmel the most conservative of the three late night hosts? He is to the right of Fallon and Colbert, right.

Kimmel notwithstanding, Bill Cassidy is a jackass.

I’ve never thought Kimmel was even remotely funny. Never saw what anyone sees in him.

Now he’s revealed himself to be nothing but a liberal dope.

They would never have done this in a million years. They were funny, insightful, and appealed to the entire country.

I have feelings for Jimmy and his family; what a horrendous ordeal. Thank the Lord that his baby is okay.

But, Mr. Kimmel, please don't use people's compassion for political ends. Just stick to being funny...which you are. :)

I sincerely hope you and your family are happy and healthy from now on. All the best to you and yours.

From what I can gather, Colbert is an absolute leftist. Fallon, OTOH, received pressure, from what I have read, to mock President Trump, although he had said, "I just want to make people laugh."

As for Kimmel, I am not sure at all.

I have loved Fallon since his performances in Taxi (with Queen Latifah) and that baseball movie with Drew Barrymore where he portrays a hardcore Red Sox (the Boston team?) fan.

Sorry, not a follower of baseball except I'm from Chicago and love the White Sox and the Cubbies. :)

FTA: “Almost everything he said was either completely untrue or highly misleading, and his simplistic emotional appeal was completely disconnected from the real world.”

This sentence captures everything wrong with every libtard that shows up on my Facebook page highlighting something spewed by any one of the late-night loonies. It just saddens me greatly that such simplistic appeals to emotion are what passes for measured commentary on the issues of the day. Critical thinking and a true desire to understand the issue by gathering facts and context are a lost art.

Switzerland has a completely private healthcare system, has about the longest life life expectancy of any country on the entire planet, and it all costs much less money.

I'm of the opinion that at least half of all health care spending in the US was completely wasted or at least misdirected.

Then Obamacare did something amazing, gave us a healthcare system that is even more dysfunctional, wasteful, expensive and less effective.

The last time I watched Kimmel, he was on "Win Ben Stein's Money". He didn't learn much, if anything, about basic economics from working with Ben Stein.

The late-night talk show demographics must differ a lot from the get-up-in-the-morning-and-get-to-work demographics. Kimmel (or his writers) at least know their audience.
