Trump: GOP health bill short of votes before deadline

President Donald Trump said Wednesday the Republicans' last-resort "Obamacare" repeal effort remains two or three votes short, forecasting days of furious lobbying ahead with a crucial deadline looming next week.

The legislation by Sens. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina would repeal major pillars of former President Barack Obama's health law, replacing them with block grants to states to design their own health care programs. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is trying to round up 50 votes to pass the legislation before Sept. 30, when special rules preventing a Democratic filibuster will expire.

Democrats made their opposition clear.

"This is really a stinkeroo, this bill," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi told reporters Wednesday.

Then maybe they should stop bailing out insurance companies. Think of the cas tax payers have funneled in so insurance companies can “administer” Medicare.
This bill is spenderrific. They have said states will get even distribution of block grants.. so they are trying to push the narrative to make you believe for every one dollar California get, Mississippi gets one dollar.
If it’s true, then it was bad math.
If it isn’t true, start telling the truth.
We voted for full repeal on day one.. not deals with shumer and Pelosi.

Poorly written "special rules", then.

Who's in charge of this circus? I've got a "special rule" for you:

We won. Democrats go sit down and shut up - you are not part of this decision tree. No one (who matters) is going to ask, "Will the Democrats agree?".

To be blunt, I believe this is why it exists and why they are unable to kill it. I think the 800 lb gorilla in the room is that the single reason the ACA was created by the #uniparty is to protect the insurance company lobby. Everything else is fluff and excuses.

My wife’s friend has been having some health issues and receiving treatments. She found out last week that she was going to need surgery. Her after insurance contribution was going to be $25,000.

She couldn’t afford it, but one of the folks at the hospital took her aside and said if she wanted the whole thing to be “Patient pays” (or something like that), it would be $6,000 total.

I’ve amassed a bunch of stories like that from personal friends and Freepers. This is just the latest. The whole thing is a scam and patients are the cash cows.

It’s why we don’t have health insurance and take care of ourselves. People think I’m taking a crazy risk. I think they are coming from a false paradigm that’s been fed into them for decades.

Maybe dumping television in 1997 has helped me. I don’t see all the scare tactics.

If you have the Internet, as it appears you do. No difference. Heck you can catch up on just about everything that has been put in the news on the internet.

But heck, I love my flat big screen smart TV. My only entertainment.

Come on.

Wanna bet?

The big difference is that I don’t get all the scare tactics in ads.

Even here.

I remember the bird flu. People talked about it here, but I wasn’t interested so I didn’t click on the threads. And by the time I DID click on a link, it was because the story was about the story being over and we didn’t all die. I never gave it a second thought, but a lot of people here on FR were really concerned.

I get all my news off the internet, but the good thing is that I PULL it. It is not PUSHED to me, as was the case with television.

We do too! But we only watch dvd’s and BlueRays, though we just discovered Amazon Prime.

Of course! How else would you explain ridiculously high monthly premiums, and even more ludicrous deductibles, that healthy people are expected to pay??

The only way to get rid of obamacare is to do so in incremental steps. Those who insist on having it all gone at once end up being on the side of those fighting to keep it. If nothing gets approved, then obamacare remains.

My sense is that it is entirely likely, given the lying nature of Wahington DC, that people of “pure principles”, like Rand Paul, actually support Obamacare and use their “purity” to get elected in conservative states while also keeping Obamacare. They get to talk against it, prevent any change because it isn’t perfect, and smile in secret because they were part of the collusion to keep obamacare.

All the missing votes are Republicans: McCain, Murkowski, and Collins. Surprised about Rand Paul.

Do you honestly think that a Democrat would sign on to this bill?

Medicare is Dictatorshipcare. Add in Tricare Life as secondary and it is total Dictatorshipcare.

Just had hand surgery, Medicare allows 6 weeks of Rehab, up to 2 more 6 week sessions if necessary, but if you have under lying other injuries it will take a lot more than 18 weeks of rehab, as first they have to rehab the older injuries like a Rotator Cuff tear, some doc deemed not big enough to fix. All with out any pain meds but an Ice Pack. Seniors don’t rehab as fast as youth do. I’ve 5 visits left of this session, and have just begun the hand rehab, the rest has been spent on the Rotator Cuff, which is still painful and will always be painful. It is my dominate hand and makes doing things as simple as teeth brushing a pain in the butt with your left hand which you don’t use as much.

And Luther Strange Mitch’s stooge if AL is dumb enough to re-elect him. Old Mitch has been pouring MILLIONS into Strange’s campaign, and today POTUS tweeted Strange was backed by the NRA. I’d rather have a Constitutional following Judge Roy Moore that Mitch’s stooge.

Trump: GOP health bill short of votes before deadline

I'd love to see The President get a victory on healthcare, but pardon me if I'm highly suspicious of ANYTHING Linda Graham supports.
