Dear FRiends,
We're having a temporary technical issue with our credit card processing system. Our Merchant Service Provider has requested we add some additional functions into our system to help detect and prevent credit card fraud and this work is underway. Hopefully, this work will be completed in a day or two so we can wrap up our FReepathon before the end of the month.
Credit card processing is suspended for the next day or two until this work is completed, but PayPal continues to work normally. And. of course, we still welcome your mail-in donations to: Free Republic, LLC - PO Box 9771 - Fresno, CA 93794.
Very sorry about this delay at this critical time and hope we're back to normal very soon.

Aha!! I was wondering what was wrong. Just used the card to order from an online vendor and no problem.
