The 'slowdown' in global warming is OVER: Met Office warns changes in the Pacific Ocean will make the Earth heat up faster Analysis of trends shows the rate of warming slowed between 1999 and 2014 A change in the natural pattern of warm and cool phases in Pacific Ocean has brought the slowdown to an end, experts say With the last three years each breaking annual records, the slowdown is over

Awesome! A warmer planet is a wetter planet. Maybe we can start farming the Sahara.

Is this an objective forecast that can be objectively measured in 5 years?
If the lame Met Office is again wrong at that point, can they be permanently shut down?

Pointing out that it has nothing to do with human caused inputs.
Otherwise this period would have seen exponential increases due to increased industrial activity in China and Southeast Asia in general.
More DailyMail tabloid crap.

Barley one month ago the people couldn’t predict Hurricane Irma, how in the hell are they going to predict something five years out. Let alone 80 years in the future.

La Niña coming + Pacific Decadal Oscillation dipping negative = global temps fall next year.
Met Office knows that.

If Hurricanes occur as the weather starts to cool off from Summer to Autumn, wouldn’t global warming, if it was ocurrring, prevent Hurricanes?

Re: “But a change in the natural pattern of warm and cool phases in Pacific Ocean surface temperatures, which have an impact on global temperatures, has brought the slowdown to an end.”
Um, the “natural pattern” is called El Nino.
It started in 2015, stopped in 2016, and was the most powerful El Nino ever measured during the weather satellite era.
Was the power of this El Nino related to human caused global warming? It's possible, but no way to prove it over just a few years.
Also, the last three years of “record” temperatures all fell within the margin of measurement error.
It's entirely possible the “pause” has continued for the last three years.

The climate has been warming since the end of the Younger Dryas period, about 11,500 years ago. Unless "Global Warming" at that time was triggered by mammoth hunters racing their SUVs across the Russian steppe and lighting their yurts with incandescent bulbs, humans were not the cause of "Global Warming".
There is certainly a human contribution to climate change but I've yet to see convincing evidence that it is in any way significant from people who do not have an anti-capitalist agenda.
If you are looking for the real cause of climate change I suggest you wear your eclipse glasses.

Looking at what has been said for the past 20 years, the experts have said global warming is increasing, decreasing, accelerating, decelerating, stable, and unstable all at the same time. These same experts can’t all agree on what is happening or explain it, but the science is settled or else.
